I know it's no longer the 90's, but even in today's NFL it takes more than a year to get a team going in the right direction.
Belichick's record:
Cleveland:
91 - 6-10
92-7-9
93 - 7-9
94 - 11 -5
95 - 5-11

2000 - 5 - 11
after that only winning seasons. Don't say "Tom Brady", he finished 11-5 with Matt Cassel who had not thrown a pass since high school. Garrett will turn out to be a good one. Don't listen to the media, if he were anywhere else he would be seen as a good coach making rookie mistakes.
Our problem is lack of talent on defense and too many injuries on offense this year, and yet we are 7-6 and still with a shot at the playoffs and the NFC East Crown.
