i loved it, to be honest.

it *is* low budget. there are some scenes that just scream "we only had $20" but overall that's easy enough to put aside and simply enjoy the show.

anyone else slam down the 10 shows already? i won't put any spoilers in here right now but see who else is watching or watched it by now. if not, youtube red and worth the free month trial just to get all 10 and watch now.

As we discussed elsewhere...I liked the show as well.

There are some funny parts.

There are parts that pull on the nostalgia strings for those that loved the original movie.

Not really a spoiler per say since it is the idea of the show but they kind of flip the script on who is good and who is bad while at the same time still reinforcing the good and bad guy image.

There is a scene in the Cobra Kai dojo where Sensei Lawrence has a room full of kids and he has special names for them. It was cracking me up. Later in the show a Kid stands up and gives
some kind of speech. Lawrence tells his pupil something that cracks me up.

So as Iceberg says...it IS low budget.
Keep in mind this is not Netflix or Hulu so it does not even have the budget of those two to make a show. This is on Youtube Red.
And Frankly this is only the second show I have seen on you tube red that was not made with people that were famous for being on you tube. The other show was a cheap reality show
where some B list stars (steve o, guy from the dudesons, chuck lidell and some others) attempt to climb some mountains.

So Youtube red is not as established as the others so the budget is lower. However for the lower budget and nostalgia alone...it's a pretty fun show to watch.

in the end the budget became part of the charm of it all.

funny how we dig into johnnys past and get a better idea of who he is / was and that while he's an *** at times, not all the time. calling out LIP was cracking me up. they're definitely slapping at the social justice warriors at times. watching "lip" become hawk was pretty funny too.

SPOILER ALERT:

Does anybody else hope they don't portray Kreese as a "conflicted" character in season 2, but rather as the merciless cold-hearted sociopathic villain we know him to be from the movie?

I wonder if Kreese and maybe Terry Silver try to take control of Cobra Kai from Johnny, since they originally had control of the trademark.

Also found it unbelievable that that pretty boy punk Robby ALL OF A SUDDEN hit a move in competition that Daniel himself could never learn.

It was also a shame Miguel's gf ditched him for trying to deck Robby and getting in the crossfire. It was obvious Robby is trying to make a play for Miguel's girl.

Overall, a really good series - but still dislike how they are making out Daniel to be the good guy again...in the previews I got the feeling they might go with an arc that show him to be the whiny little ***** he was in the original movies.

It is about as believable as the second movie after Daniel tries to use the Crane/Swan kick and the other guy just brushes it off as nothing. So they go with the silly balls on a string and drum method to take him out.

My guess is they have to come up with a new "signature" move for the movies and or show. Even if it does not really fit in well.

I had a problem with how Miguel all of the sudden became an *******. It was like a switch being flipped. The bit at the beach I understand because of the drinking, but it just continued after that. At least with Hawk you could see him going down that path and going a bit extreme with things.

The last episode or two really hurt my opinion of the series because of that, and how it kind of tried to make it seem like Daniel was all the sudden the good guy when he was a d-bag the entire time. Miguel flips and becomes an ***, and Robby becomes an honorable person who does things the right way because of a little tutelage from a guy who was mostly a jerk for 9 episodes?

Cobra Kai is a series on YouTube Red that continues the Karate Kid rivalry of Daniel Larusso vs Johnny Lawerance. I must say it was much better than I expected.

I need to finish it. Started it. Yeah, it is a bit cheesy and the acting is below average but like mentioned, it is entertaining. Something about it makes me want to come back. With that said, I may have to put it on tonight.

I’m in episode 7 and I am all in on this! Is it bad that I’m grinning from ear to ear watching this? Totally taking me back to my childhood, and I like the storyline so far.

So just finished the season! I can’t wait for the next one. I actually liked the storyline a lot. I like how both Daniel and Johnny realize how much they’re alike. You can see the trajectory of Miguel and Robby. Anyone else find the unspoken crush between Sam and Robby amusing, and totally predictable? But it’s fitting in so many ways! Okay I’m done geeking out now lol

Not amusing or predictable because Robby looks like a pretty boy POS don't you think?

Yeah as really think Johnny
is not mean or really a villain they are making out to be. Just misunderstood. As really now it is him on the bottom and Daniel being the successful one.

First few episodes were really good i thought. Last episode wasn't hardcore enough. I'm thinking a few characters will be switching dojo's in the next season.
