Your team wins it on Sunday. Do you elect to receive or defer, and why?

Receive.

I want the ball in our hands as often as possible and going to Dez early and often.

Dez will control this game.

Defer. Just personal preference, so much build up to this game it will probably start off with a 3 and out. Always nice to come out in second half with ball.

Defer. We've been starting off fine but I like to see us get the ball after the half. You can run up the score or catch up to start the half. No rush.

Yeah - if on the road part of me would want the ball first, to try and settle down the crowd. As the home team I'd hope we defer, just because our defense needs to play strong early. It would be very demoralizing to give up a long TD drive at home on the first possession. Not something that can't be overcome - but tough.

Defer because we're a 2nd half team. The more possessions we get in the 2nd half, the better.

Defer

Like someone said, I want us to have as many possessions as possible in 2nd half.

Also, the defense can set the tone of the game with that first drive.

This and the being on the road the crowd is loudest at game start. I'd rather give our defense a chance to quite them. I usually like starting on defense because it gives us the chance for back to back possesions surrounding the half.

The flip side is I expect both offenses to have the upper hand and when that's the case I prefer receiving and getting a lead.

But quieting the crowd just a little before our offense takes the field trumps that.

Oh, I almost forgot....Fail to the redsucks.:)

The best thing Dallas could do if they win the toss is take the ball, and silence Fed Ex Field with a commanding 7-0 start. Score early and often to put pressure on us to answer the bell. Force the rookie QB to orchestrate drives with a deficit. That in itself is a sound strategy

Always, always, always defer.

It gives you a chance to score late in the half, them get the ball first in the second half.

I normally want the ball, but always prefer to go on defense first. We are prone to three and outs on the opening series and it just adds fuel to the fire on the road in a hostile environment IMO.

For me, I always want them to defer whether at home or on the road. Getting the ball to start the 2nd half is a good thing.

Cant go into this game tentative

Receive

Score, and shut up the home crowd

Defer

We don't play we'll until there is some urgency to score.

Yeah, this whole "defer" nonsense sounds suspiciously conservative and timid to me. What, you people don't have faith in our offense against that defense? You know, the unit that is coming in relatively healthy?

No, receive. Score, and instantly put pressure on them. And if we're able to score, stop them and score again, it's panic time in D.C.

Romo 1st Half stats: 78 QB rating, 7 TD's/10 INT's

Romo 2nd Half stats: 104 QB rating, 19 TD's/6 INT's

Defer.

I think the only time we haven't deferred this year has been in Cincinnati. So, yeah.

I'll still take Romo over our pathetic defence any day.

Oh good, so you'd like to send the message that the team is going to wait until the second half to make their move. The team that gets into the scoring column first is going to have a huge advantage in a pressure-cooker kind of game like this.

People, this is playoff football, you play to win the game, not tread water until the second half. This isn't even debatable -- which is what you'll see if/when we win the coin toss, you won't see a moment's hesitation when our guys say "we want the ball."
