I live in New England and watch Wes Welker every week. I am very sorry to report that Cole Beasley is no Wes Welker. He is not even close. Welker is short but is very compact and muscular. He has physicality, quickness and speed which is much stronger than what I have seen from Beasley. I hope I am wrong, but I have not seen anything so far that resembles Welker. He looks like an athletic kid who runs around but is not making an impact.

All this from a preseason game?

How strong and muscular was Welker when he was a rookie?

why do we keep looking for another Welker--how about another Megatron

And WW was not a world beater one game into his rookie year--not to say CB will work out

what were Welker's measurables coming out of Texas Tech? I'd wager they were closer to what Beasley's are now if not maybe slightly more in weight / height.

my point: give the kid a few seasons in an NFL offseason workout regime and then let's revisit this thread.

Medication is out of the question. This is gonna take some major voltage.

Why is it that every white basketball player is compared to Larry Bird, every black quarterback is compared to Michael Vick, and every small white receiver is compared to Wes Welker?

Dirk is nothing like Bird. RG3 is more like Steve Young than Vick. And Cole Beasley has an entirely different skill set than Welker.

Welker is more of a straight line receiver that can get down field, and can also find seams within a zone. Beasley is more of a quick, lateral receiver that works well in small spaces.

I heard a good comparison to Beasley the other day: Billy "White Shoes" Johnson. I think that's a good model for him to use.

Smh. Wes Welker was also an incredible WR at Tech in the Big 12. And a record breaking punt returner. In the Big 12. But whatever.

People are just fascinated with this guy because he's a white guy who said he's better than Welker and then quit and then came back.

Beasley reminds me more of Marvin Harrison in build/size. Harrison was taller, but both of them are featherweights.

If he was Wes Welker, he would of been drafted in round 2 or 3. No expects him to be Welker right now. I think people just hope he could develop into a Welker-like threat in the slot. That doesn't mean he would be as good, just a similar type of slot receiver.

Welker is also a product of Tom Brady and the Patriots. If he got drafted by Seattle, most people would have never heard of him.

Very similar to how Joseph Addai benefitted from playing for the Colts or Butch Johnson for the Cowboys.

Translation: Beasley is white. Dwayne Harris is also a "similar type of slot receiver".

If I remember correctly, Welker was pretty good at Miami.

Very average at best. He had one touchdown his first four years in the league.

Amazing what happens when Brady becomes your quarterback and Randy Moss is on your team.

What an idiotic assertion. No one said Beasley was Welker, stop making up crap.

Was there a point that was going to be made??? Or was that it???? I think the average fan doesn't care if he's like Welker or not. The Boys need a receiver that can play the slot. If he can than I'm happy. The media spins the Wes Welker comparison stuff and some fans just follow.

Wes Welker was not Wes Welker his first year was 29 434 0

IMO,
Cole Beasley is no Dwayne Harris either.

If he turns out to be, then good for him.

When did Beasley surpass the Danny Amendola's hype? He's already at the Wes Walker rumor level? When did this happen?
