Coleman or Spears Trade

Have any of you heard a rumor that as the final cuts approach--and assuming there are no major DE injuries--we may trade either Spears or Coleman for a lower round draft pick?

I have heard that there is interest from several teams for one or the other and the value is between a 5th and 6th rounder.

If this is true...any thoughts?

I would seriously dispute those rumors as I don't see any teams offering anything for either player, given that either or both will likely be cut.

To say nothing of the fact that both were available last year and drew little interest before signing with the Cowboys.

I doubt anyone would trade for Coleman. He'll probably be cut.

Spears on the other hand might spike some interest. I would hold on to Spears if it were up to me though.

I could see greater value with Spencer from teams who run the 4-3.

I do not think we'll cut both of these guys. Maybe one or the other, but not both.
I love how our depth at DE is possibly shaping up though. Who wouldda thunk it?

I agree. Spears seems more logical to draw interest. A 5th still seems too high though.
I've heard three "Cowboy insiders" already mention the interest though.
To me, it's all rumor until proven otherwise.

I dont see a team trading for Colemen, I think he gets cut, Spears stays for depth he is younger and doesn't have a big contract.

The Cardinals only got a 3 and 4 for Anquan Boldin. Some team is going to give us a 5 or 6 for Kenyon Coleman? I say no way. If any team was silly enough to offer that though, i'd have done it already.

Where have you heard this rumor from?

A radio station.
A Message board.
A sports show on the radio or TV.
Just some random guy you know.
Your own idea of what could happen.

Just curious...sometimes where a rumor is being heard from tends to help me categorize it as something to listen to or completely ignore.

If I hear that it comes from a source that I have found to be reliable in the past, I perk my ears up and get interested.

If I hear that it came from somebody nobody has heard of...I generally dismiss it. If it comes from a place like yardbarker or some of those types of sites...I generally dismiss it.

So that is why I am curious where you are hearing this rumor.

Just to be clear I just wanted to know where it came from so I could try and gauge my interest in taking it serious or not.

That is why I wanted to know where you heard it from.

From the two local media guys you heard it from...would you say what they have said, rumor wise, in the past has panned out more often than nor or has it normally just been them spitballing?

Again...just trying to get a level of whether we should really consider this thing.

Of course even if it is 100% dead on accurate that there might be other teams interested in one of the two players...it does not mean we would trade them or get any value from them in a trade.

Don't hold me too it, but I think the media guys were Broaddus and McMahon.
The 3rd is flimsy b/c it is a guy who claims to know Steven Jones. But the story was the same and was before I heard the brief discussion on the radio, it made me curious if anyone here had heard such a rumor.

The discussion went on and on about Spears' draft pedigree and the fact that he has started many years...and how he could help several teams who need depth there. lol Maybe that was Broaddus with his LSU bias? Sorry, I don't recall.

Yes, there was that and then a followup.
Maybe it started after August 4th when Broaddus broke down the defensive front 7 on the Cowboy's website. I know there he had mentioned that Spears or Coleman could be gone but at the time there was no mention of trade value. That's what later got my attention. It'd be nice get something out it.
