With all due respect, this is about quarterbacking not about personal conduct ... lets be adult about it.
I was making a point that you missed. Lets not go around claming people are not being adult, all due respect.

One of the great fringe benefits of playing on really good teams is talkingheads and mythmakers create and retrofit really great narratives about you for their meritocracy based storytelling jobs. Something tells me if Colin Capernick played on the Jacksonville Jaguars or Buffalo Bills, Colin Cowheard wouldn't be spending a lot of air time weaving tales about how he's a super hyper aggressive alpha male who bends the world to his will.

Colin Cowherd is a snob with consistently obnoxious opinions. He's annoying and arrogant, and I have no idea how his show is so popular.
He's insufferable. I can't even listen to the little 30-second promos of his show that ESPN Dallas online plays at commercials.

And yeah, this is a dumb theory. Just off the top of my head I can think of plenty of different personalities between HC and QB: Landry and Staubach... Starr and Lombardi... Even Eli and Coughlin.

The relationship between HC and QB is just a small part of what makes a successful offense, which in itself is only half of what makes a successful team.

And another thing (I'm getting ready to leave ... I wanted to get this in:cool: ) I thought the take was about how the coach and QB are like minded individuals when it comes to how they approach the game and QBing. When you threw in Ben's sexcapades it came across (to me) as a little juvenile and beneath you. It threw me. I should have left it alone. My bad.

I consider Garrett and Romo cerebral, competitors, workaholics, as well.

Yup, nailed it. Anyone can draw comparisons and contrasts between a head coach and QB in a matter of minutes. As you said, fluff. And Cowherd is a squeaky idiot.

Romo is more than a backyard gunslinger. That's silly and ignorant. The guy has made himself into a very good QB from virtually nothing. You don't do that just chucking the ball around like a guy on a You Tube video

To add to that. Garrett is also more than just an "Ivy League Brainiac." That tag is fairly dumb. Garrett is a former back-up QB that fought each year to be good enough to stay on an NFL team. With Romo coming from nowhere and having an uphill battle to get on a roster, I think it's pretty safe to say that these two guy have quite a bit in common. Since both played the QB position, I'd say they are more alike than many if not most of the QB/HC pairings in the NFL.

All that aside, I kinda doubt that the overall psycho-babble concept Cowherd brought up means much in the end.

If this point was brought up a few years ago people would compare Karaoke Romo snogging Jessica Simpson with cake smeared all over his face and givin the argument weight, now his image of a family man is very different. When Ben won the Superbowls he was out partying with collage girls, getting drunk, riding his hog around with sandals and no helmet. Do you think he Bill Cower or Mike Tomlin could relate to him the way Cowherd says is vital? I doubt it. Its not just about approach to the game, because being like Brady or Bill would require more time put into things around it, like leadership and study. I don't buy Big Ben was that commited his first couple of seasons, when he won. I believe he only became this way after the scandal. To the thread topic, it didn't hold him back from two Lombardis.

Good thread idea. Is Kapernick a hypercompetitive alpha-male? That's not how I think of him.

Tony and Jason have very different personalities, but one of the things I've always liked about JG in Dallas is the idea that he and Tony are pretty similar philosophically in terms of how they approach player development. Now, most of that is probably Tony buying into what Jason's selling, but Tony's a cerebral player himself underneath the smiling and clowning on haircuts.

Agreed, Kapernick is anything but a hypercompetitive alpha-male. He listens very well and seems to extremely respectful of alpha male figures, which is why he will work with his coach. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about team dynamics will tell you it's not people who are similar that make the best teams, but often those who have differing personalities. Then again, McMahon and Ditka won a SB together, who are obviously alpha-males. Long story short, there is no pattern. And if there was, I highly doubt the screeching banshee that is Colin Cowpie would be the one to uncover it.

So why didn't he have a Aikman / Jimmy comparison

I think he's looking for some controversy, get people riled up.
