Cap hit is calculated by Base Salary + Prorated Signing Bonus.

I have to see it but I'm not sure Cowherd is right that there's going to be a super low cap hit, especially next year. Depends on if/how many void years they added and how the guarantees are structured. It does sound like he'll have a low base salary every year if so much is guaranteed.

One has little to do with the other. Guaranteed money means the player gets paid whether he makes the roster or not. If Dak gets cut for example, he gets paid by Dallas and the money due to him hits the CAP as if he was on the team. It can hurt the CAP if he has multiple years of guaranteed salary left on his contract because it all accelerates into the year he is cut, along with all his pro-rated bonuses.

I have not seen the details of Dak's deal yet. I am guessing the Cowboys added 4 voidable years and pushed his signing bonus out over those fours years like they did for CeeDee.

I haven't seen the yearly base but I am guessing that last year baloons up. So the 80m bonus is dvided by the 4 years. Thats 20 each year on the cap, now if the base goes 25/30/40/65 The cap hits would be bonus+bade 45/50/60/85. My best guess.

Yep. You get to spread the signing bonus over 5 years. So, if Dak plays out this contract for 4 years and then retire or leaves, we end up with around 16M of dead cap space the following season.
