Sometimes I can take or leave listening to Cowherd. And then sometimes he blindly falls into a topic that is deeper than the general topic of his show ever was intended. But it seems to be the state of things. Though sadly, I note he glossed over the part about our nation creating borders. He left out that with borders comes border enforcement. That seems to be something that those in the Nation's Capitol haven't the appetite for.

But the thought of this article does lead one to thinking about a lack of loyalty to a "brand". Whether its all the players jumping from different sports to different teams. Or just the average "joe" moving from company to company without any loyalty to the company. Of course that works back the other way too, the companies or teams also lack loyalty back to the players or employees.

ESPN Radio Host’s Thoughts on QB’s Hat Controversy Evolves into Inspiring Rant About Borders, Infidelity, and Even Rachel Maddow

It started as a simple monologue on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his much-maligned decision to wear a Miami Dolphins hat over the 4th of July holiday. But it ended up as an inspiring diatribe on culture, loyalty, and infidelity that even included a reference to Rachel Maddow.

We’re talking about ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd’s Monday morning radio rant.

Cowherd opened his show by saying he is “a little old school” and the news of Kapernick’s decision — and defiance regarding it — got him “all fired up.

Don't have much to add to this 'cause I don't really care one way or another.

But imagine how big this story would be if it was Romo? Good lord.

Don't understand why he wore that cap, but the reaction about how people got angry over it shows how isolated in his own world he is, a bit scary.

Maybe if the NFL did like Coca-Cola (a CC employee will get fired for drinking Pepsi) then CK woud take it more seriously. The fans pay your salary, you better care what they think.

His Agent should take him and beat his head like a drum for a few minutes. I don't really care about Kapernick or the 49ers or the Fins for that matter. I do, however, find it almost unimaginable that Kapernick could be so stupid. He's following two HOF QBs who have each won championships in San Francisco for the 49ers. Each has made a ton of money by being the face of the 49ers and each has retired from football to make even more money in endorsements etc. This kid has basically half a season behind him and is in a position, if he continues to succeed, to get a restructure of his deal in the next year or so. He is playing for less then a million a season for the next two years. He needs to consider what he is doing to himself by doing stupid things like this.

He represents the 49ers organization. He sells a product and that product is very expensive. How do you get your own fan base to come out and pay big money (and lets face it, it is very expensive to take a family to an NFL game) to watch a team who's QB is seen as not all in for the team?

Absolutely one of the dumbest things he could have done at this point in his career IMO.

Off Season is not over yet.

Can you imagine, just for fun, if it was Romo wearing a Dolphins hat backwards that we were talking about? Compare this to getting an autograph for your nephew from Vick or saying there are more important things in life than football games. We'd have a story of epic proportions in Dallas for the remainder of the offseason.
And it's not like the 49ers are an under the radar franchise. It just goes to show how much bigger everything is for America's Team.

That's interesting that you say this Idgit. I was talking to Bob Brown, the local ESPN Sports Radio Host here in New Mexico and he asked me if I'd heard anything about this whole Kapernick thing. I'd honestly told him no, I had not as I had been very busy with a lot of other things of late. He knows I'm a big Cowboy Fan and he asked me if I could imagine what it would be like if this were Romo? Very same question you are posing. I told him that I could not but that if I had to make a guess, by midnight last night, I would envision lots of pitch forks, lots of torches and plenty of pitch with nothing more then a smoldering Valley Ranch by Sun up.

You're right. Goes to show you how big the NFL has become. How ingrained it has become in simple day to day life.

People who got mad at CK for wearing a Dolphins hat must have never played team sports in their lives. I recall at various summer camps (e.g., Lacrosse Camp, Hoops Camp) that we always exchanged gear with our fellow camp-mates, and then wore that gear all the time be it out with friends or playing pick-up. I still have a West Genesee Lax hat that I got from a roomate at lacrosse camp at Chapel Hill, NC in the summer of 1988.

Dude wore a hat. Remember when Tashard Choice asked MIchael Vick for an autograph? Same b-s. Who. Cares.

Funny, your argument is exactly what Florio wrote on PFT.

Colin Kaepernick has put on a 49ers hat. Perhaps we’re going to have to find something new to talk about during the slowest point of the offseason.

Kaepernick, the 49ers quarterback who raised the ire of fans and commentators by posting a picture of himself on Instagram wearing a Dolphins hat, has now posted a picture of himself on Instagram wearing a 49ers hat, in an attempt to put the issue to rest.

What created the mess for Kaepernick wasn’t wearing the hat but displaying a surprising amount of immaturity and/or tone deafness by reacting defiantly to the initial wave of criticism he received. Besides, he’s the quarterback of the 49ers and the emerging face of a franchise that has had many great players who would never have worn the colors or logos of any other NFL team. (At least not while playing for the 49ers.)

Not at all surprised WG. I heard the same kinds of opinions on Mike&MIKE this morning as well. I don't really think it's that difficult a position to understand. I mean, it's business. I think everybody can understand that.

There is something about him that I just can not like. I think he thinks he is better than he really is. I dont know.

LOL at comparing this to the NFL. Yeah I mean it's just like when your girlfriend exchanges a blouse with her best friend, no big deal, right?

I'm more upset about the straight bill, damn that looks so ********.

Just imagine if Romo wore Saints or Raiders or whatever team's hat, man he probably receive boat load of death threats, lol

Its a non-issue for me but Cowherd does posit a compelling, passionate, and surprisingly, an elegant argument.
