On a fake field goal when the holder has possesion of the ball and his knee on the ground why is he allowed to get up and run or pitch the ball? Shouldn't he be considered down?

I understand your question, but if you think that way, every FG try would be literally pointless because as soon as the holder gets the snap the play would be over.

Yeah, I thought about that too but if it's a kick I can understand letting the play continue but not if they break that formation. I don't see the difference in a QB in the shotgun formation going down on a knee to catch the snap and then standing up and a fake field goal. Got to be a rule on this somewhere.
