College FS and SS

I watched the OSU, ND, and kinda absorbed some of the Pen State new years day game through a pounding headache and no sleep.

He wasn't the best player on the field, but he always seemed to be in on the play.

I can't recall anything spectacular off of the top of my head.

He was in a forced fumble and knocked out a WR and his own CB with a vicious hit.

You missed it.

In the bowl game?

I've seen some of Mays and he doesn't strike me as the type of safety we need, we need a centerfielder a guy who will so sideline to sideline and make plays on the ball. Hamlin and Roy can hit we don't need a hitter we need a Ed Reed type of prospect..........easier said than done but that's what we need.

He played FS on the best defense in the country.

Stop looking at size. Watch the vid, he gets to the ball and delivers.

Find me some plays where he let those Pac 10 WR's get deep on him.

They don't exist.

I want us to draft William moore from Missouri

this is who we need a ballhawk safety. not some genetic freak who looked real good cause he played on the best team incollege for 3 years.

Wow that kid looks amazing..... I wonder where he is projected to go?

I'm not knocking Mays he's a great player, but I don't think we have a shot at drafting him way to high I would think.....right?

Yeah, I'm not sure how I missed that, but I did.

That was brutal.

we have no shot at mays and probably no shot at Moore either. we would if Jerry didn't give our 1st rounder to Detroit. but I hope some how we can get william.

Hey if we can get a 3rd for Crayton I would think we could get back into the 1st round.

hopefully you are right. I need to go find somebody who can make me a William Moore sig now:D

In case it hasn't been mentioned. Mays was clocked twice at 4.28. I doubt we could even come close to getting him but if Jerry somehow did, I would never allow anyone to badmouth Jerry. I'd show up at people's houses and deliver a buttwhoopin like Jay and Silent Bob did.

just thought of something, may be some language issues in this youtubevideo. Mods, please feel free to remove if there's a problem. For others, if you have issues with language, please do not click on this. Just think it's hilarious how these two find out that people are talking mess about them on the net so they go door to door and get some revenge.

At pick 51 we have a shot at Rashad Johnson and Patrick Chung both good but neither genetic anomalies. Rashad is said to be like Ed Reed in attitude and hit like a mad mule. Both are Ed Reed size and speed. More coverage than run. In a perfect world Mays is the pick but last I looked that has not happened.

Ed Reed does it now.

But I loved Woody. I wish he would come back and coach for us.

I dont see Ed Reed playing alot of man coverage. He plays more like a "rover" and trolls in zones. He gets alot of picks because he does such a great job diagnosing plays and guessing on routes.

and reading routes. man he's fun to watch. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!

Patrick Chung out of Oregon or Michael Hamlin out of Clemson are the two I'll be pulling for . Both are late 2nd round to early 3rd round guys .

Chung lines up at SS the majority of the time , but Oregon actually lists him as a "Rover" becuase they line him up everywhere from SS to FS to LB and even CB on occasion . I wouldn't call him a ball hawk , but he does have good range and is an outstanding tackler and palymaker .

Hamlin is both ball hawk and outstanding tackler . He had 6 Ints. and 8 passes defended on the year to go along with 97 tackles , a sack , and two forced fumbles . He had an equally impressive 2007 season and has shown consisten play .

Personally I think Hamlin would be the best pick . He's probably available when the Cowboys pick early in the third , and I think he would pair perfectly with Roy Williams .

Mays is obviously a freak of nature - I don't recall him getting burned deep, but I do seem to recall him being out of position on a lot of key plays in both of the Stanford games I watched the last couple years.

Problem is that I just don't enjoy Pac-10 football enough to watch many more of their games, so I can't opine too much more than that. I came away less impressed than I expected to be, but I probably missed some of his better days.

Mays is hard to figure , because he really hasn't been impressive . He has 53 tackles , 2 tackles for loss , 0 Ints. and 0 forced fumbles on the year . His #s aren't even close to guys like W. Moore , P. Chung , M. Hamlin , or half the other safeties in the NCAA . That said , he plays on the best defense in the country where it's hard to rack up big#s because of the talent in front of him .

I really like Mays. He has athleticisam and he is physical. I'd draft that guy if I had the chance.

Overrated and we won't have a shot at him anyways.

Guy doesn't wrap up and plays slower than his times indicates...pass.
