This is what Jerry said: we dont know till how Marc can respond till he gets out on the field, and he has earned the right to start

EARNED THE RIGHT TO START

Columbo has been a major part of the team and a big reason why we are where we are. He is clearly the leader of that group. He is well, so he starts.

And Wade said this, "Doug Free has played well," Phillips. "If Colombo comes back, I think Doug will still play some. Colombo’s going to be a little rusty. He’s not going to be in playing shape. Doug Free has shown that he can play either left tackle or right tackle. I think he’s done a really good job."

I'm hoping this is all trickery by the coaching staff and Jerry. How do you justify starting a player who's "not in playing shape"? The head coach said that. Walking into the biggest game on the year and putting a player on the line that's coming off an injury, not in playing shape, and will no doubt be be picking up a lot more blitzes than last week. That defies logic.

I understand the age old NFL axiom that a starter doesn't lose his job to injury, but geez this is a tough one guys. If Romo gets blindsided..........................sure hope Houck and Phillips know what the ______ they are doing because this decision is questionable at best IMO. Granted, I'm a worrier by nature but......this isn't a sound decision at all: overcoaching personified.

If Romo gets blindsided, that would have to do with that overrated left tackle on the other side, Flozell Adams, not Columbo. Flozell is good for a couple of whiffs every game

It isn't trickery at all. I doubt the Eagles are planning much differently for Free vs. Columbo. However this says very clearly that the staff sees Columbo as being a better RT than Free. Possibly by a considerable margin.

That's all I needed to read from Wade.

Start Free.

Get Columbo some snaps in the game if needed. This is a friggin playoff game against a pissed off embarassed Egals team. I like Colombo as well, and he most definately gets his spot back. Just not this week. Get him some snaps later game, that is fine. But, knowing that Free is completely capable of holding that right side up. I definately would take him starting this game, against a pissed egals team, then Colombo. Gotta get Colombo in the game sometime though, his moxy and attitude will be needed.

Course, I can see it now. Colombo starts, maybe has an "okay" game but Dallas loses. How many in here that want Colombo to start will be crying out that "they should of stuck with Free!!!"...

Oh, you now it'll happen.
