The Indianapolis Colts have finally decided to ride the hot hand.

Running back Trent Richardson will be benched in favor of Donald Brown, NFL Media columnist Michael Silver reported Sunday on NFL Network's "NFL GameDay First."

Richardson will be the second-string back with a reduced workload, Silver said.

The Colts traded their 2014 first-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for the former No. 3 overall pick earlier this season. Richardson has struggled to produce in nine games with the Colts, averaging 2.8 yards per carry.

You should never give up more than a 4th round pick for a running back IMO

Wow...Very surprised because I thought this was a good move by Indy. Now it looks like two #1's have been wasted on Trent (Browns and Indy)

Hard to play a guy that is only averaging under 3 yards a carry.

Browns did not even make up for the mistake in drafting him so high in the first place.
But at least they rallied and got a 1st rounder (lower one, two years later) for the trouble.

When Jim Brown said he thought he may not be very special, so said he was jealous. Definitely not the case.

Not only did Cleveland burn the 3rd overall pick on this guy, but recall that they traded one slot up and got fleeced by Minnesota. The gave Minny the 4th overall pick in Rd 1, plus their 4th, 5th, and 7th rounders! Unreal.

When they traded to Indy they'll recoup a 2014 mid 1st rounder.

Disaster for both Cleveland and Indy.

Btw, I do think Richardson will eventually be a serviceable back. But you can get those each and every year in the middle rounds

Jim Brown has said the same thing about a lot of backs over the years. He comes across as a bitter guy. Still he may be right. I thought it was a bad trade for the Colts and I actually like Trent.
