Yea but they still won all those games, it will be good to run but Dallas needs to cut out the flags and play smart football to beat the Colts.

I think the difference can be sustained drives using the running attack and play action passes, keeping manning on the bench, but also putting points on the board on those drives. No stupid penalties.

How is it that Dungy, a defensive coach, has a horrible run defense?

Don't even throw a pass until the second quarter, unless their run D is worse than I thought and even after moving more people into the box they still can't stop our run. In that case, don't pass until the second half.

Becxause they have to pay Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and recently, Reggie Wayne.

That costs money. THere is a salary cap.

Running the ball and stopping the run has very little correlation to winning in the NFL. No matter how well you run or stop the run, you almost always have to pass more effectively than your opponent to win. If we run the ball 45 times and throw it 20, those 20 passes MUST be more effective than Manning's attempts.

Its amazing they are 9-0, props to Manning.

Well, they're going to lose at least a game, if not more. My fear was that they'd lose to stinking Buffalo yesterday.

I really don't think their run defense is that bad. They tend to give up a lot of rushing yards in garbage time when they have a big lead and all they do is rush the passer.

I'm not saying their run D is good or anything, just not as bad as it's ranking.

They gave up almost 200 yards rushing to the Broncos in 2nd half alone. Colts had to score 4 TD's in 2nd half to win. It wasnt garbage time.

When have the Colts had garbage time? They've had to come from behind even against bad teams.

They've hardly had any "garbage time" games. They've gone right down to the wire five times, with all of those games close the whole time. In just those five games, when every yard mattered, the Colts allowed 873 rushing yards -- 174.6 yards per game -- at 5.36 yards per carry. (Our defense has allowed 769 rushing yards TOTAL all season.)

In the Colts' four other games (two blowouts, a 21-14 win over Jacksonville and a 27-20 win over New England), they allowed 561 yards -- 140.3 per game -- at 4.68 yards per carry. And only 209 of those yards came in the second halves of those games. They allowed an average of 88.0 yards in the FIRST HALVES of those games, which translates to 176 yards per game.

Put simply, the Colts' run defense has been terrible when it matters -- and slightly LESS terrible in garbage time.

Even if there was garbage time against the Colts, wouldn't teams be trying to pass to catch up rather than rack up running yards?

For us to win this game, the defense must play lights out. This includes getting some turnovers.

We will not win this game if the defense doesn't give us a short field a few times in this game.

Forcing the run against Indy can keep the opposing team close, but what good is it if Peyton Manning is on fire when he takes the field?

Me personally, I'm not sold on Joseph Addai. I watched him all those years at LSU, and was surprised to see him as a 1st round pick. I would drop everyone into coverage and force Indy to run. Manning will still have his chances, but Addai cannot carry that team.

Looks like that Booger McFarland pickup for a 2nd rounder isn't doing them all that much good.
