Colts, 'Skins to meet in Canton in preseason

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Jim Zorn will make his Washington Commanders coaching debut in the Hall of Fame game on Aug. 3.

The Hall of Fame announced Sunday that the Commanders and Indianapolis Colts will meet in the annual exhibition in Canton, Ohio. It's played the day following the hall's induction ceremony.

The Commanders lobbied for the game after two of their former stars — Darrell Green and Art Monk — were voted into the Hall earlier this month. The rest of the Class of 2008 is comprised of Fred Dean, Emmitt Thomas, Andre Tippett and Gary Zimmerman.

The Colts last played in the Hall of Fame game in 1996. The Commanders, who hired Zorn on Saturday to replace Joe Gibbs, played in the 2004 game.

I'm wondering if the Cowboys didn't ask to be in the HOF game when Troy and Rayfield went in. If they did and then the Commanders got this then that's a load of crap.

I don't think Parcells wanted any part of a 5th preseason game, and so Jerry didn't lobby for it. I'd bet now that Parcells is gone we'll play when Emmitt goes in.

Teams that play in the HoF game do play 5 preseason games.

I don't think the cowboys wanted to play. Jerry made a comment back in the 90's, about playing a 5th preseason game took away from what they were trying to accomplish in training camp. Not to mention possible injuries.

But if asked I'm sure they would have, but I don't believe they are campaining for an extra game. Especially any overseas.
