Columbo out 2-4 weeks

that's a sigh of relief. Dude is the heartbeat and warrior of the O-line.. gotta have him now that we don't have Flozell at LT

Maybe he was playing hurt against Oakland, dude flat out was getting raped out there.

Our worst OL fears are realized. Colombo hasn't played well so far in preseason & now he's out from 2-4 weeks & OL depth isn't good at all. Guess Barron could move over as starting RT but he's reportedly not very good there at all. TE's could help by chipping for him, which leaves Free by himself. Doubt we move Free over to RT & put Barron at LT cause that leaves Romo's baclside too vulnerable.

Either Cowboys trade for vet OT who can start at RT for a least a few games or HH must coach Sam Young up to start at RT. Who knows? With help from our TEs (leaving Free w/o any help from them), Young might be good enough not only to play while Colombo hurt, but also beat him out.

this is a NATURAL reaction, but I would not do anything. We traded for Roy Williams because we were AFRAID to play Miles Austin. This is the NFL. People get hurt. You cannot have steak at every position. The Steelers won the Super Bowl 2 years ago with one of the worst OL in the NFL. You have to develop a mental toughness in your team. You have to send a message. A message that everyone that is on this team is on this team for a reason, and if someone goes down, the next guy HAS to step up. No excuses. Only one injury should deter us...and that is at QB. And if this defense took on the mentality that the Ravens and Steelers had....we would not fret over the QB. Baltimore used to go into games telling the offense 2 just give them 14 points and don't turn it over. That is exctiting to me. To know a defense is obsessed with domination. This defense far to often KNOWS how potent our offense is and does not seek domination. That needs to change. TONS of 1st round picks and TONS of money have been spent on that side of the ball...they need to become dominant.

Another year more O-Line concerns. Some things never change. Not to worry they got it worked out in the offseason.

When one plans for the next year, first one attempts to get a good chance to win. I think with the draft securing Dez Bryant and then Sean Lee, the team pretty well chopped a good chunk from the trunk of the tree with those top picks. Now, since someone gets ansie, foul and stupid evaluation by the Dallas staff is being hollered.

If one thinks that this talent evaluators and coaches are stupid and inbred, pick Philadelphia, Washington, or the Giants to root for then.

Myself, I'm willing to bet that following the 'Turk's' last blood letting, one or two of the Dallas slain end up on another team's roster with that team being quite happy about the pickups.

Two weeks Colombo gets to rehab and the sky is supposed to be falling huh? Heck, Erik Williams used to miss whole camps and no one messed with him come the regular season. No more than a scope in line, Colombo is far from a walking wounded....but by all means, cry on!

Good post. Unfortunately mental toughness is foreign to this team and its fans. Baltimore and Pitt have ruthless fans. You go into their stadium knowing you are in for a fight. Dallas? I hope I am wrong though. Love to see a guy like Ware get a ring.

Eric Williams >>>>>>>>>> Marc Columbo

There's no comparison to be made between the two.

lol everybody wants to make parallels between two diff eras.

Blessing in disguise.

Foces us to evaluate the young guys earlier.

I'd love to see Sam Young take that job.

La ti da on legend worship. Both came back from career potentially ending injury. As to on field talent, they actually were very similar after injury. When Eric started out, no one could contain him, but his car accident and demolition of the vehicle changed him quite a bit on the field. Take another look....

The conversation was to point of missed time on the field, and what that didn't affect once the season started. Sometimes time off the field helps veteran players as much as would practice. They already have the disciplined approach and full knowledge of function on the field...but since name tossing is more important than topic discussion, you believe in all the hype of legend.
The last couple of years of Eric's career, he wasn't a Cowboy even.

He was a good tackle, but Colombo isn't corned beef hash just yet either!

Try and look 'smart' with someone else..

Won't happen at all...but it does serve to bring Young into the fire much earlier in his career and THAT will help in this developmental period for him. That is good for the Cowboys as well. Otherwise, he would have had to have 'earned' his way into elevated opportunity.

This in many ways, is a youthful camp, and Sam Young is part of that forging process. I'm actually liking the depth getting forced somewhat into action and coping with the 'real show.'

I think Colombo's body is pretty much done at this point.

We'll be looking at 1 of 2 things this year.

A young guy making rookie mistakes at RT, or Colombo looking like a has been giving up sack after sack.

Your zeal to put down the team you profess to love and its fanbase has resulted in a ridiculous post. Fan "toughness" has nothing to do with whether or not a team wins a championship. The Cowboys have won five rings throughout their history. That's an average of one per decade. Apparently the lack of so-called fan toughness didn't hurt them in those years, so why would it now?

That's your opinion...I'll just leave it at that.

I'm gonna go with this theory, he just wasn't right against Oakland.
