- The main theme of yesterday’s NFLPA meeting was unity. Almost 400 player reps were on hand for one of three meetings around the nation, the largest gathering of its kind in the nation. They were told of the importance to stand as one in the coming labor unrest with the league. Yet even with said call to arms; just twelve hours later a member of the NFLPA we spoke with stated, if there is a lockout during the 2011 season they fully expect the players and the NFLPA to cave into the owners demands as has happened in the past.
- While the players prepare to take the field for combine workouts, another topic of conversation is free agency, which is starting to heat up. We can relay two hot currently rumours swirling around Indianapolis. Brian Westbrook, recently cut by the Philadelphia Eagles, will be signed soon by the Minnesota Vikings. The other rumor is Aaron Kampmann will be signed by the New York Giants once free agency begins.
Max Hall, QB BYU
- Currently working out in Arizona with NFL quarterback Charlie Frye.
- Questioned immediately about his perceived lack of arm strength, Hall’s retort, “To be a great quarterback requires timing, decision making, and accuracy. You have to have it up here [pointing to his head].” Yet the BYU product did not completely dismiss the initial question, “I can make all the throws.”
- Continuing from the previous point, Hall stated his strengths are his intelligence and knowing the game really well.
Tim Hiller, QB Western Michigan
- Concerns have arisen in regards to Hiller penchant for taking a sack and his number of lost fumbles from a year ago. The signal caller did not sugarcoat the situation, “I got to get rid of the ball faster.” In a system which already relied on a quick underneath passing attack, this is a major flaw in his skill set.
Jarrett Brown, QB West Virginia
- Measured in at 6-feet-2.7-inches tall and 224 pounds with a 10 inch hand.
- Scouts have told Brown, “No one can out throw me in this country.”
- Some inquired bout the Mountaineers prevalent passing attack with Brown behind center as compared to Pat White’s historic career at West Virginia, “Pat White really set the table. He became a great passer as the season went along.”
- The quarterback will complete a full workout.
