Combine now in high gear … The third day of the 2010 scouting combine gets underway later this morning in Indianapolis with the arrival of the defensive linemen and linebackers. At the same time, the offensive skill players will go through the weigh-in process today along with more physical and psychological testing. Meanwhile, the offensive linemen and TEs, who hit the field tomorrow to kick-off four days of on-field testing, will do the bench press today, among other activities, after going through the measurement process yesterday. Not too many surprises as the weigh-in for the OL and TEs, although scouts probably would have preferred that Florida junior TE Aaron Hernandez was a little bigger than 6-2, 245, which is more HB type size. For the most part, though, the TEs in Indianapolis represent a big group. Same for the offensive linemen, although OTs Vlad Ducasse of UMass, West Virginia’s Selvish Capers and Roger Saffold of Indiana each measured in at under 6-5, while Florida C Maurkice Pouncey, who had been listed at between 315 and 320 pounds at school, weighed in at just under 305 pounds. Same story for Texas OT Adam Ulatoski who ‘only’ weighed in at 300 pounds, which isn’t huge for a RT prospect. NFL.com has the full list of heights and weights by position.

Yup yup, a guy I brought up some time ago in my very first mock, I think you'll just keep hearing more and more about him.

If we miss out on Iupati, Jerry is a very nice backup plan for our future at LG.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I believe he has played RG and RT thus far though. He is a big powerful lineman that would be a nice fit at a reasonable draft choice.

Charles Brown of USC checks in at 6'5" 303 lbs. Russell Okung, the top rated OT to this point, checks in at 6'5" 307 lbs. I very interested in Brown. I know that some don't like him because he was considered light but this might be good news for us. I like Brown and think he might become a pretty darn good LT in time.

John Jerry is my favorite OL in the draft. I'm hoping for him in the third.

Does anyone know anything about Brandon Carter?

Chris Scott lost a lot of weight. Wasn't he previously listed at like 350? He's 319 at the Combine.

Pouncey at 305 is a disapointment. He is going to have to add some heft to be taken seriously inside.

Frankly I doubt many tackles are going to be successfull in anything other then ZONE blocking if they are only 305 or so.

you know pouncey is a guard right? And, he's already the same size as Kosier and he'll get bigger

Carter is massive and plays with a mean streak. He really battles and will be a good pro imho. Obviously he's had a ton of experience pass blocking in space because of that Leach system at Tech.

He is not an OT prospect because he's not real quick but he is strong, mean and huge.

OG and maybe RT prospect.

Pouncey was the center for Tebow the last 2 years.

He did play 11 games at RG in 2007.

However, he's lost about 10 pounds according to his playing weight.

:bang2: yeah, meant center, was thinking if we draft him, he'll play guard

Gaining weight and strength is not a given. This guy went to a major program with a top weight and strength program. Its very questionable that he will gain much more. There are a lot of college programs that are not that far from Pro programs and FLorida is one of them.

Two of my pet cats, Pouncey and Veldheer came it at low weights. Veldheer at 6'8" only 312. Of course coming from such a small school he should be able to gain weight, Pouncey on the other hand came from Florida so its questionable how much he can add. He was thought to be in the 315-320 range.

I find it hilarious that having 33" arms means you are doomed for failure yet 36" means you are designated for the HOF.

Bruce Campbell will be a Raider once he runs 4.85 tomorrow.

i'm now torn on brown. pre-combine his weight was estimated at around 285 lbs. at 303 lbs, he looks more interesting. his bench press was pretty low, but a year with the cowboys staff can significantly improve brown's overall strength.

that said, the stuff i've read about him states he is more of a zone type blocker/finesse guy. usually we don't go for that type of OL.

of course, being a former te, brown is probably a very good athlete for that position.

also, i have to admit, i still remember that bad jacob rodgers pick. but i think he also had an injury history at usc.

i don't know if brown is worth the gamble if he's there at 27 for an offensive line scheme like the cowboys.

i'd be interested if any "rumors" on potential interest regarding brown on the cowboys behalf start to surface over the next few weeks.

but i assume for mock draft purposes, he's a legitimate pick at 27. :)
