Very true as far as stopping the run.I know that this is now a pass happy league but if we want to make some noise in the playoffs and make a run for the Lombardi, it comes down to our ability to run the football and to stop the other team from being able to run it. A strong run game opens up the ability to pass and keeps the other defense off-balance. San Franciso used their running game to pound us into submission in the playoffs. We need to be able to do that to our opponents.
Tyler Smith, Ferguson and Ridgeway should help us to that end. Not sure if we did enough or if there are free agents still out there that could aid in this cause. I think that a healthy Gallimore also helps a ton. What say you? Should we focus on the run or the pass to get to the next level?
its simple, you run the ball, you control the clock, you limit the other team's number of possessions and opportunity to score. defensively, the same, stop the run, give the ball back to your offense, you get more opportunities to score. sometimes its not about running and necessarily having the average yards, etc. its about the number of attempts. gaining some decent, yards even if its less than 4, but putting the team in a position to have 2nd and sort, 3rd and short yards.I know that this is now a pass happy league but if we want to make some noise in the playoffs and make a run for the Lombardi, it comes down to our ability to run the football and to stop the other team from being able to run it. Seattle...or Russell Wilson playing on the other teamWhat does he need to win a playoff game?
actually the first quarter thing is a false narrative that has been proven wrong multiple times...including by myself.Need to score points to WIN.
We fall short esp the 1st 3 Quarters of our playoff games!
P.S.Playoff team defenses who don't have to worry about the QB can stop any running attack!!!!
but still yet, the QB ran and ran well and the team over all was #1 running team in the league....everyone drools over Jackson and his running, yet finds fault with Hurts and his running. Its a misleading stat. The only reason they led the league is because of their running QB. Its not like they lined up and handed the ball off to the RB and had lots of success.
its more about # of attempts than really rushing yards....if that was us, after 10 attempts we would stop and go to WR screen....but 23 rushes, that's about average or just slightly below average and that amounts to controlling the clock. winning TOP.Rams in the Super Bowl - 23 Rushes, 43 Yards for 1.8 Yards a carry
Bengals in the Super Bowl - 20 Rushes, 79 Yards for 3.9 Yards a carry
So... yeah running is important....
13 pts vs the Packers in 3 Quartersactually the first quarter thing is a false narrative that has been proven wrong multiple times...including by myself.
you are becoming lazy in you analysis and just following the winds of heresay.

This is why I am picking the Eagles to win the division this year. They showed they can run the football and they can stop the run. With Brandon Graham coming back and Jordan Davis filling the inside, I think their defense has the potential to be lights out against the run. We'll see.
yeah, two games...but over all average we were middle to above average... I can do the same and pick two games for any team and say they are slow scoring team.13 pts vs the Packers in 3 Quarters
7 pts vs the Niners in 3 Quarters.
Think its pretty clear our overpaid/overated offense has serious issues scoring till its the 4 th Q and we are playing Garbage ball or falling short and losing once again!

Average vs. what actually happened in a game. Some blow outs we rushed to finish out the games and this skewed to he out come.cowboys in 2021 in 17 games had a total of 473 rush attempts for an average of 28 per game. so what are we complaining about?

but I get your point. you are upset about playoff loss.
The ability to stop the run is crucial, so is the ability for your offense to run the ball. Hopefully Tyler Smith will be able to help that cause for the offense. If you can't stop the run, you will not win in the playoffs. No more complicated than that.

Heard a stat from last season:
Zeke ran an average of 1 yard before coming into contact with a defender.
The O line obviously needs more physicality.
Zeke, admittedly, was lacking explosiveness
As well.
