It’s Official: Star Wars Ruined Star Trek

Back in the ‘90s, Star Trek absolutely dominated the airwaves. The Next Generation was such a monster hit that it spawned two more successful spinoffs: Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Unfortunately, the Golden Age of Star Trek petered out with Enterprise. Years later, Paramount tried to bring the magic back with shows like Discovery and Strange New Worlds. Unfortunately, the NuTrek era has been decidedly hit-or-miss. There are many reasons for this, but the one that everyone overlooks is the prequel problem. Namely, once Star Trek went all-in on prequels, the writers began making the same mistake that Star Wars did... Read more
IDK, I still at the very least like everything Star Trek has done. SNW is excellent, IMO.

'Spider-Man' nabs one of the best second weekends at box office ever

" - It's the summer of "Spider-Man": "Brand New Day" made more money in its second weekend at the box office than most 2026 films made in their first. "

Pardon my pun, but it is certainly a Juggernaut at the box office.

The family and I went to see it this weekend. Everyone really enjoyed it.

I especially appreciated the words of introduction from Tom Holland and the personal touch.

It was different from what I expected, but that’s not a bad thing.

Well directed, well acted, and the special effects were outstanding! Go see it on a big screen and you’ll feel like you’re up there swinging around with Spidey! I felt myself getting vertigo!

It was really cool to see the maturity of all of these young actors and their growth and improvement in their craft.

I’d give this one an 8.5 out of 10.

Join the crowd and go and see it on the big screen!

I'm convinced you can put any actor on the screen with a decent Spider-Man or Batman costume and make $200 million regardless of reviews or word of mouth.

She's very talented, and physically, I think she fits a lot better than Anna Paquin.
10,000 actresses would have been a better fit as Rogue than Anna Paquin. Yes, I am making a WILD exaggeration, but that is how I completely feel about Paquin's casting and how the idiots directed her character.

To be honest, I know nothing about Inde Navarrette. I have not seen Obsession, which she has arguably made herself into a worldwide sensation. The same was true of Superman & Lois, which I may have watched two episodes max.

Even so, I will not... I refuse to accept... a casting director can miscast this character again. Or be that stupid as a director again. Heck. I was not disappointed Rogue was missing in three of the last four X-Men films or that Paquin was cut from the theatrical release of Days of Future Past. They disrespected the comic book version. Crap. They disrespected ALL of the alternate realities of Rogue's version in the various animated series, too.

Please let them get Rogue right this time around. Sorry for the rant, lol.

Inde is a cute girl (5'0), but Rogue should be a taller and more woman than girl. That's why Anna Pacquin was such a bad choice.

She's more Jubilee.

i finally saw Brand New Day last week ,.. as i always try to avoid the initial big crowd and wait til it ceases and eases ,.. overally i thought it was good.

It's not in my top 5 overall all time Superhero movies, but i definitley can say that it was well worth the theater trip and a Huge relief and monster impprovement over previous Marvel films.

the first quarter fof the film was fast paced, and ending viewers will love the next to last fight

Overall , i gave this film an 8.0

@DallasEast ,dont worry, i'm trying so hard know to give away the big splash spoliers

I thought Spider-Man: Brand New Day was an early indicator they were shooting for late teen/very early 20s casting look--along with an established female height standard. The D23 cast unveiling makes me believe in it much more. Right now, I am thinking they are going for an even younger look than what was seen in X-Men: First Class. For me, even the mentor is getting a solid de-aging makeover with Xavier looking younger than when James McAvoy took over.

I'm gonna get a grip and finally watch Navarrette's big movie. Rogue experienced deep trauma that initially shook her self-identity due to fearing her power. The Obsession trailers show an actress displaying a whole range of emotions, from normal to psychotic. I think that likely was the primary factor that won her the part.

She was incredible.
