You know, I think I read into your post something that might not have been there. If you're talking about front-runners, well, I don't want to defend frontrunning. For some reason, I misread your post to be a shot at fans who don't live in the city the team plays in. I don't know why, b/c the rest of your post makes your point pretty clear.

Right on, no big deal. Although I do believe that growing up in a city that lives and breathes their sports teams adds to it a little bit. Going through and feeling the collective emotions of an entire area when their team is doing good or bad does have an effect and I believe those that root for teams in cities they have no allegiance to what so ever can and does affect their level of fandom at least a little bit

Eh I was living on my own, after I graduated from college thank you very much. Didn't even need my "Rich" parents to help me either. Oh and typical Baltimoron according to half of your fanbase huh? You must really think I shoot up crystal meth, and bang hookers in Dundalk don't you? Haha oh silly Montgomery County! Thats why you pay help pay taxes to fund the crimes in Baltimore!

That's awesome man good for you...but thats your life not mine. I don't plan on living at home forever and theres no chance in hell my mother would let me. My life is different then yours and I really don't see anything wrong with still being at home only 5 months after graduation.

What type is that? I see that Star4Ever was a member at one point and that account has since been removed. Pot meet kettle.

...and God bless TR1. He is hilarious. The Zone definately has its version of TR1 as well.

Catholic Charities IT department. What do you again besides dreaming of the fact you probably NEVER attended VT Tech in your wildest dreams.

:laugh2:

Really? You are running around judging people on a Cowboys message board? Weak.

If you must know (since you did provide an answer to my question) you and I work in the same field, but my function is responsible for getting your function work.

Virginia Tech Pamplin College of Business 2004, The George Washington University Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Science 2008. I work for one of the bigger federal contractors in the area, and they are kind enough to let me work from home most days, which allows me to manage my side home/commercial repair business that I have had since college. This area is expensive, and have you seen the cost of Commanders tickets since Snyder took over? :bang2:

Hahaha of course I HAVE! At least 5 friends I know, whom are Skins season ticket holders and pay up to the gills in season tickets. Some of those tickets have been with their families for decades. So it's basically an inheritance to a few but not many. So yes for more of your information: University of Maryland College Park degree in Computer Science and minor in Philosophy. I know nothing comparable to VT Tech, but still a good education none the less.

WOW talk about the stereotypical front running fan. You can go ahead and like them if you want but I can guarantee you that when those teams win championships that you will and do not feel anywhere close to the same joy and excitement that is felt by fans who have grown up with a team their whole lives. I am 23 and the last time the Commanders won the super bowl I was 5 so I barely remember it. I can tell you this though, my whole life I have been emotionally invested in the Commanders. My family has had season tickets through three stadiums and I have been going to games since as long as I remember. My old bedroom when I was little is dedicated to everything Commanders. It has a Commanders rug, Commanders, shades, lamps, wallpaper, memorabilia, etc. Also due to the fact that I actually root for my home team I am constantly caught up in the cities emotions towards the team whether they be positive or negative.

You? You're a fair weather fan. Yankees, Lakers and Cowboys? Are you kidding? I can guarantee you that when and if the Commanders win a superbowl it will be a much much more rewarding experience. When they win the super bowl it will be surreal and i can guarantee you if I am away from the DC area at the time i WILL be back just for the parade. Have you been going to the Yankees and Lakers parade the last two years?

I wish you'd be kicked from the forums. Seriously.

You are on a Cowboys forum, only when your team is winning (You won't be back when they start losing and that much is perfectly clear from you) and you're going to tell a Cowboys fan they're a front runner cause they don't live in the Arlington area?

That argument is one of the most ignorant and stupid things a fan ever says. You have zero credibility on anything from this point on just for making that ignorant statement.

I don't live in Dallas/Arlington either but I assure you I get just as excited/upset when the Cowboys win or lose as anyone who lives in the area or anyone who lives in the Washington area for the Commanders.

I absolutely can't wait till you guys have a losing record again to where the vast majority of you will go back to what you do best. Hiding out when you're team is losing. When that starts happening there will only be 2-3 of you guys here and it will be the 2-3 that are here all year long, every year.

Those guys I respect.

Whoa man I think you misread my post like the other guy. The point I was making was that front running fans don't feel the same satisfaction wheb their teams win. The guy stated he was a cowboys, Yankee, and lakes fan...do you think he feels the same joy when those teams win? I do believe living in the area contributes a little bit but that was not the point of my post at all. I guess I didn't make myself clear enough

Man I barely ever post on any message board; however lurk on them often and will sometimes get involved in a thread that interests me. I came in to ask bob sacamento why he thought thought laundry has sucked in coverage and for objective reasoning why. Then I defended my area and fanbase when we were called rednecks and got into a (stupid) where I live is better than where you live argument. My post about bandwagon fans was directed at BANDWAGON fans. I wasn't directing that at everyone who roots for a team they have no geographical allegiance to but to people that like the Yankee, cowboys, lakers, etc.

At no point did I make a personal attack against anyone (unless calling someone a front runner is a personal attack) and I dint even say anything negative about the cowboys (hell I keep telling all my friends that its WAY to early to count them out.

However, if I really came off that abrasive and was thay out of line in my comments I apologize.

I agree with Monster_Fan05 and BraveHeartFan. I have never been to Texas either, but why does that mean I can't root for my Cowboys?

I should be allowed to root for whatever team I want without ridicule. For example, I was born and raised in Tennessee. We didn't really have any pro sports franchises near me growing up, so when I was a kid in the early 90's I liked the Cowboys, Braves, and Bulls. Namely because my favorite athletes were Troy Aikman, Chipper Jones, and Michael Jordan.

As I have grown older, my tastes have changed some. Obviously I still LOVE my Cowboys, but now I like the Yankees and Lakers (just like Monster_FAN05). To prove it, I have a yellow Kobe Bryant home jersey and a grey Derek Jeter away jersey (both AUTHENTIC!). I have even started following hockey and picked the Blackhawks as my team because I liked Patrick Kane in the Olympics.

I guarantee I was just as happy about the Championships my teams have won this past year as any Foreskin fan would be if they ever won a championship.

Who Jumps on the bandwagon of a 1-3 team that hasn't won anything in 15 years?

Explain pleas, since a few wins seems to have made Skins fans experts in judging the loyalty of others.

VT Tech, I'll admit is light years ahead of Maryland in terms of the science department and engineering departments.

I would say VT is light years ahead in football :)

Science and engineering I believe UMD has made some great great strides in the last 10-15 years.

As an institution, I want to say the UMD is in the top 50-60 for public uni's, while VT is around the lows 60s overall. I don't feel like looking it up.

What I am starting to enjoy is a small basketball rivalry developing, even though UMD probably looks at UNC and Duke as much bigger rivals then Virginia Tech. But there is some bad blood between Seth and Gary

I get it. Anyone who likes a team with a winning tradition is automatically a bandwagon fan.

You're a 'real' fan cause you like the Skins who don't have quite the same winning tradition (though they have had a winning tradition) and I guess that's ok.

By what you're saying the only people who can honestly be 'real' fans are people who are fans of teams like Detriot, Philly, Cleveland, and places like that. Places that haven't won any Superbowls and don't have a winning tradition.

Otherwise they jumped on the bandwagon of a team whose won in the past. Of course you'll comeback in here and try and claim it's perfectly alright for you guys who live in the area of a sports team to do that, cause you live in the area.

Get out of town.

This right here is the kind of mindset, and silly crap, that makes the few really solid Commanders posters we have here look bad.

Just out of curiosity who died and left you in charge of deciding who are real fans and who aren't?

That's right.

Nobody did.
