Commanders after Hatcher and Spencer

Kerrigan and Orakpo are there so I doubt Spencer would sign unless he just has no other suitors.

Hard to imagine many are seriously looking at a guy coming off a surgery that pretty much is a last ditch effort.

Looking into who's had it I guess Colston has had both knees done, the most recent being 2011 and the other in 2009.

Guess that just about makes him one of the few success stories I've heard. Reggie Bush is another.

Stephen Bowen had it. Didn't know that.

I'd really be shocked to see anything substantial for him in terms of money.

Be nice of he'd sign for dirt cheap. $1M base salary with $1M extra if he hits 85% of the teams snaps.

Unless hatcher wants to be a space eater I do not see him going to a 3-4 after the success he had in a 4-3. As for spencer I look forward to him doing his little bunny hop around blocks that puts him out of position from time to time.

Better off than franchising him, and then losing him immediately? Yes.

It fascinates me how we can draft Costa's immediate replacement and Witten's and Austin's future replacements in one draft but can't seem to have a single defensive player waiting in the wings. Sure, part of the Spencer situation was bad luck, but part of it was not taking what we already do on the offensive side of the ball and doing it on defense. We essentially will/have replaced three offensive starters in one draft, but we can't replace one defensive starter in three drafts.

It's too risky to sign him for much more than that. But if he's taking a one-year trial deal, Dallas is really the best place for him. He knows the system, doesn't have to uproot, and would get a lot of national attention he's unlikely to get in many other markets. Only if a team offers him multiple years or a real premium for the coming season would it make any sense for him to sign elsewhere. If somebody does, let them take that dumb risk.

Hatcher was a JAG as a 5 tech, and a pro bowler as a 3 tech.... let them throw money at him to be a 5 tech.

I completely agree. I was shocked we didn't take a DL in the first three rounds last year. Counting on rookies to replace Ware, Spencer, and possibly Hatcher is pretty bad planning, any way you cut it.

Hatcher wasn't a JAG. He just played on a team where many fans didn't realize that he was a good player until his sack numbers went up with a scheme change. Defensive coaches have been talking for years about what a good player he is.

Spencer is washed up and never liked him . Border line bust for me . Hatcher though would hurt.

I think a few players in the NFL just got a raw deal. He was always productive when he played, though it was sparringly. He was stuck behind Spears, Rat and Canty until 2009. Wade somehow liked Olshansky and Spears He got more productive as a starter for Rob in 2012 and blew up last year. He was always explosive, but I think got stuck behind higher draft picks/investment and system nepotism (Wade).

I think he would have flourished earlier with more parcells. Parcells could pick good DLine, LBs were a little too slow for the newer wide-open offenses like NO

At this point, we would have just been better off letting him walk last year and taking the comp pick.

They should have never franchised him in the first place. 6 sacks being a career high for Spencer earned him $8.5M for the year, while 6 sacks is a career low for Ware and people thought he'd play at like a $6M base salary.

I dunno how interested the team may be.

He floor is basically sitting out and his ceiling shouldn't be viewed as much until he's shown he's recovered.

I think they'd rather have a guy they can pick now and count on to play, just so the don't have to have lesser options learn the system on the fly.
