Commanders ask Washington Post to stop using "Commanders" name. When will Commanders stop using "Commanders"?

Ill laugh when they have to change their name in 10 years. All the good ones are taken so theyll have to go to some WNBA nickname like "Washington Fight", or "Washington Grrrr".

They could keep literally almost everything. Change back to the arrowhead logo, and in lieu of "Commanders" get another name like "Braves" or something that insinuates pride/heritage.

Kind of like the Florida State Seminoles...I think the name is okay, but the logo is racist, somewhat.

Part of the reason the ATL Braves went exclusively to the Tomahawk and took away Chief Knock-a-Homa and the big-mouth smiling face they used to have, similar to the Cleveland Indians -- horrendous logo.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish is technically racist too. But it's a logo, what difference does it make? I'm shocked at how sensitive America has become.

"Fighting Irish" ... would Irish people rather they be the "Drunken Irish" or the "Backpedaling Irish" or the "Limpwristed Irish"?

I think it hurts a little more with the Commanders because their original owner intended for the name to be racist, since he was a giant racist himself.

Which Irish think the Notre Dame logo is racist?

Don't you think those targeted by the logo are the best to determine what constitutes racism?

Snyder is a joke.

I read another story on this issue. Snyder doesn't want the Post to name its blog "Commanders Insider." The Post should rename it "The Team That Will Never Win Another Super Bowl Under Daniel Snyder Insider."

I think the Indians logo is far worse than the name Commanders. If you were to ask which one I think should go first, it would be the Indians logo.

I'm told the Washington Post is agreeable to dropping the name "Commanders", but in return they want the Skins to stop using the name "Washington"...

:D

now thats funny?

Sadly, I can actually see some cash strapped city try to trademark or copywrite (not sure which applies) this to earn some extra money from sports teams and businesses. LOL

dont you think that would get a lot OUT OF HAND. If everyone who was targeted by anything could constitute racism we'd never be able to keep up.

They should change it along w the Indians logo..both are suspect. I don't personally think its a big deal but I'm not indian.
I am mexican and would be offended if it were a "funny" logo of a smiling mexican holding a taco or something..the name Commander is like an african american being called a darky or something...very offensive.

There were never any "Indians" in this country. They are indigenous or native americans. Columbus and others branded them indians.

Trust me. I have many friends that are native americans/indigenous to this country and they do not accept the tag indians.

Now, an indigenous "businessman" will go after someone/business/sports team to get what he wants ;)

Ok..so they call themselves indigenous? OR..call themselves native americans? Funny, since they were here long before this place was named America. lol
Either way, my point remains the same...

They are "natives" of this land.
They are "indigenous" to this land.

Factually, what I wrote is correct.

I wasnt arguing your point. It was a footnote.

The ones I know are not offended by "Commanders" or "braves"
