The preseason has claimed another victim.

Commanders rookie defensive end Jarvis Jenkins will miss the season with a torn ACL, according to his Twitter account.

The team announced Jenkins had a “knee sprain” last night, but further tests revealed the complete damage.

It’s a bigger blow to the team’s defense than you’d imagine.

Jenkins, a second round pick, had been one of the big surprises of camp. He was starting last night and appeared likely to play ahead of veteran Adam Carriker in the regular season.

That sucks for them. You could tell it was bad last night.

It's still a "Knee Sprain", it's just a severe one.

Of course he'd play ahead of Adam Carriker. It's Adam Carriker.

I've had both and a complete tear feels far worse than a strain....that was the difference for me.

This a a kid I thought we may be interested in, heard Comparisions to Jay Ratliff.

I really liked him coming out of the draft. Big loss for the Skins.

It said test revealed complete damage. Also, he sent out a tweet saying he had a torn ACL.

That sucks. Hate to see injuries to guys unless they earned the karma to deserve it.

Real tough loss. He was putting together a very good pre-season. :(

I feel your pain.

On the bright side, at least it looks like you drafted a quality player who will help you in the future.

I really liked the Commanders' first three picks. I know Kerrigan and Jenkins have played well. Haven't heard anything from Hankerson yet.

Tough loss. Looked to be a very good starting 3-4 DE even as a rookie.

Dang. Thats a tough loss for any team and I feel bad for the kid.

Yeah that's a kick in the dinger. Was really looking forward to seeing him on the DL this year...

Good thing is ACLs now are the equivalent of Tommy John surgery in baseball -- 1-yr recovery time, very rarely do they have any long term effects.
