I don't mind this approach. Yes, there are some young guys who are just waiting to prove themselves and might get it done. But I don't trust this front office to pick the right young guy. I'd rather see the Joneses take a former head coach who did made his bones as a defensive coach enough to earn a HC job somewhere. Of course, that doesn't limit us to Zimmer and Rivera. There are at least a couple others out there who qualify, but I'm not sure there is interest (either on our side or theirs, or both).

Shortly after the reports that they had landed Kliff Kingsbury to call their offense, it has been reported that the Commanders have filled their defensive coordinator position, as well. Per Steve Wyche of NFL Network, Cowboys secondary coach and pass game coordinator Joe Whitt will be joining Dan Quinn and Kingsbury in Washington as the team’s new defensive coordinator.

OH.

Dang.

I missed this thread somehow.

Okay, then.

As another poster had pointed out... maybe someone who's posted here, but I really don't remember, sorry... even if the Cowboys were to offer Whitt, it was going to almost certainly be for some lesser length of a contract, a distinct disadvantage.

Oh well.

So maybe (?) this is why we're hearing today, per Broaddus, that Martindale is going to be making a visit... replacing Whitt on the agenda.

With how bad against good teams during the regular season and how horrible the secondary looked against the Packers during the wildcard playoff loss, no adjustments whatsoever at halftime, I'm glad Whitt is gone and followed Dan Quinn out of here.
