ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Commanders have released safety Oshiomogho Atogwe, saying an early goodbye to one of their big free agent signings from last year.
The Commanders also cut longtime fullback Mike Sellers on Monday, the eve of the start of the NFL's free agency signing period.

Remember when we all wanted him last off season

I'll admit that I did. The one game this year that I kind of focused on him he seemed to do well actually. I guess that was the exception not the rule.

I caught hell when I said I did not want him. Nice to get out of hell. :laugh2:

Id still like to have him on this team opposite of Sensy. Maybe he'd come here for a modest discount just to get revenge on the skins.

I suppose the Cowboys are holding off on cutting Newman until they know if they can land Carr or Finnigan?

He has hardly had the best year with the Commanders battling injuries for the majority of the season. OJ played in 13 games starting 8 and finished with respectable numbers. 3 interceptions, 6 pass defences and 60 tackles to go with 0.5 sacks.

During the season Shanahan continued to use OJ in spot duty because he did not feel that he could play 100% due to injuries to his hamstring, knee and ankle injuries. However OJ disagreed with him and there seemed to be a little tension there as OJ was replaced by rookie DeJon Gomes.

I remember some people throwing fits when he wasn't signed, if that's what you mean. I wanted Dashon Goldson.

There's such a fine line in the NFL between good players. Health, age, fit with the coaches, comfortability in the scheme. Any of those can make the difference between a good player and a below average one. It's a reminder about the risks of signing even good, young players in FA.

Ill admit i did too, but for the people who didnt, they didnt have a better option and for all the people who wanted Elam, worked out just as well.

He was asking a lot and coming off a big injury I felt it was too big of a risk given the situation.

There turned out to be several better options available, actually.

I wouldn't call what Elam did here last year as working out.
