Things are about to get even more interesting, and potentially messy, between Washington and safety Su'a Cravens.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Cravens may still report to the team on Tuesday, consistent with a plan to return about which the team was aware before putting him on the reserve/left squad list. (Ian Rapoport of NFL Media had reported — accurately — on Sunday that Cravens intended to return to the team on Tuesday.)

As the source explains it, Washington was aware that Cravens was coming back on Tuesday. Out of the blue on Monday, they shifted his status from exempt/left squad to reserve/left squad, ending his season. Cravens, we’re told, wasn’t informed that the team was planning to make the move until after the move already had been made.

I thought I read or heard a blurb that not too long ago he was talking about retiring from football but someone in the Commanders coaching dept or FO talked him out of it.

He apparently did the same thing at USC after an injury and was talked into coming back.

It's like the saying goes, if you have one foot out the door, it's hard to come back.

I'm thinking it was a miscommunication between the FO and Cravens.

Based on Plankton's post, the miscommunication must have happened when the Commanders thought he was committed to football.

Sounds like they didn't perform "due diligence" on this guy. Nice to know the Cowboys aren't the only ones messing up on their second-rounders.

Yeah, I agree. I heard talk that he had a similar "I don't know if I want to do this" moment at USC as well. That is something I would charge to the scouting dept, anything like that is a red flag and makes a player undraftable imo.

I think they just decided to shut him down and give him more time to figure what he wants to do with his life. The last thing this team needs is one giant distraction if he came back today, then went MIA two weeks later. Plus Deshazor Everett is probably better at that position than he is right now anyway. He created an opportunity for a guy behind him to take his spot and I don't see his teammates complaining.

Can't blame him, I would be mulling where I went wrong if I was forced to play for the skinks

Seriously though it's nice to see the utter incompetence in the FO of wash. They have all but botched their chances at retaining Cousins too. Clearly they are the employer no one wants to work for. This is a longer trend too...how many guys got paid big to join them then mailed it in over the past 10 years or so? Although I don't know that the player-FO miscommunications and vindictiveness hasn't been as public til recently.

We saw that with Rolando McClain.

The logical point here is that his teammates were not too thrilled with his decision #1, #2 he missed the first 3 games because he was not fully committed. At what point do u move on?
