If RGIII turns out to be the next legitimate franchise QB then the Commanders got a bargain, considering Sam Bradford's guaranteed money is more than DOUBLE RGIII's entire contract.

As far as being legit,

I think the Skins finally have a solid foundation/football program in place with good systems (offensive and defensive) and that's a good start. Firing Cerrato, and bringing in Bruce Allen / Shanahan (football people), really has solidified the front office. They have drafted well and have a lot of young "up-and-coming" players.

It takes time however.

I think RG3 will make a huge impact as a leader (even as a rookie -- he's just a natural leader; we are already starting to see it). I'm not necessarily sure how many more games they'll win. There's still a lot of question marks. But either this year or next, I think people are going to see the fruits of the labor done by the skins front office over the last couple of years.

He and the team still have options to re-negotiate. He outplays his contract and gets rewarded with a new deal. He plays average at best and stays where he is...or has value to trade.

I definitely understand this from both sides. No way should a rookie player get paid what a proven vet gets paid before stepping on the field.
