The Washington Post reports the Washington Commanders made an overture to LB Akin Ayodele before he signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

lol. Looks like we got the beter player for less. They spent 30 million on Andre Carter, and we got Ayodele for much less!

They spent at the right position for a 4-3 defense and we spent at the right position for a 3-4. DE's make the big plays in a 4 man line and LB's make them in the 34.

They probably just wanted to keep him away from us. I think Ayodele will be a very, very good player at ILB in a 34. He's a much better fit for that defense than an OLB in a 4-3. You hardly ever see a college DE made into a 4-3 OLB. When he was drafted by coughlin, I think they were running a 34 or at least incorporated aspects of it into their defense. When Del Rio got there, he had to play him at OLB because he is too small for DE.

It speaks volumes about Ayodele's athleticism that he was successful as a 43 OLB.

I think they were wanting him to replace Arrington. Carter will be a bookend with Phillip Daniels.
