I am curious, why so many of you believe the Commanders will beat the Giants when it was the only game that Gibbs has ever coached a shut out ?

Giants road record ? Even taking away the Saints game they are 2-3 on the road. Losses at Dallas (by 3), at Seattle (by 3), and at SD who smoked them.

Also seems many of you dont think that the Cowboys will lose to the Commanders on the road, when their road record is only a game better at 3-3.

Now I have my reasons for believing the Commanders can beat the Giants but I am not convinced that they will win either after the beating they took.

The Giants also just beat the Cowboys who many of you claim are superior to the Commanders.

Hmmm...

Falling off, yet still winning 3 of their last four including, 3-0 vs. division rivals. 4-1 over the season.

The Commanders, Cowboys, and Giants have been winning close games all season.

HaHa, one bad game is falling off?

S&T, I dont think some of them believe it.. It's moreso wishful thinking, and them trying to make themselves believe it.

Losing Antonio Pierce is huge though. He was so good as running that defense and putting his teammates in the right position to make the plays. It's no coincidence that their weakest defensive performance in some time came when he got hurt.

Yet many of you believe that because of Commanders injuries, the Commanders dont stand a chance, even at home.

Look at the Cowboys wins. You guys havent adapted the Panthers old moniker "cardiac" because of dominance.

Every team with a winning record has been either a loss or a 1 to 4 point win.

Their win against us was pretty impressive. Just because it wasn't pretty doesn't mean it wasn't a good performance. Our only TD was on, what, a 7 yard drive?

their DEFENSE was impressive.their offense has not done anything in the past few weeks to say they will put up another 36 point performance on the skins.

giants may win but to think the skins cant beat them is crazy.

IMO it's a toss up with the Skins Giants game. Both teams are a little banged up and neither team is exactly playing lights out. Gmen will contain Portis, so the Skins will have to produce some plays in the passing game to pull it out IMO.

Not to sound like an arse, but winning 14 of 16 has just a little to do with that. Yes, I know we will be playing a big division rival, but I think Dallas really matches up well against the skins, and past results seem to indicate just that. I have full confidence we can contain the skins running game and force them to pass to win the game, which plays to our favor. My main concern is Henry clearly not being 100% and possibly giving up some big plays to Moss. I think this is a game where I put TNew on Moss whenever possible unless Parcells truly believes Henry is 100%. Anyone watching our game against the Chiefs could tell something wasn't right.

Hmmm...

The difference between teh Commanders, Cowboys and Giants is very little.

The Commanders are not going to get blown out again by NY trust me, that rarely happens in the NFL....As for the Giants game against Dallas, well it was one terrible OLine play that cost us the game. Do you think if we played again the same will happen? of course not every Sunday is different and you just dont know what can happen.

I agree that the Giants losing Pierce could be a major problem for them. Mainly because they are so young at the LB position.

But I also know they are a well coached team and after a week playing one of the best offenses in the NFL (KC), they will be ready, especially with everything on the line.

Yeah, KC is gonna be pissed, and with no Pierce, they're definitely not gonna be able to stop LJ. KC is gonna give them a nice punch in the mouth, which will leave them angry and in desparation mode against the Skins.

I think the degree of injuries will play a big part in this game. I expect a lot of play for the H-Backs for the Commanders, and screens from both teams. I dont see Portis being contained too much, if they play typical Commanders football taking it to the heart of the D which will be missing (Pierce).

All of the teams match up well. With the injuries the Cowboys have in their secondary and without Dat, I dont see that as a clear favorite. I expect Moss will be facing double coverage for most of the game. Leaving the underneath game a little more open. I think the injuries make this game close as well.

The only reason I think the Skins might win is the Giants aren't that good on the road. They should thank their lucky stars they only have 7 road games this year.

I agree with some of your analysis SkinsandTerps. The injuries to the secondary will make the Cwoboys pretty wary of the deep ball. I think they will try to force the skins to make long drives with the short passing game and a heavy dose of Portis. I haven't watched the skins much this year but from what I remember Brunnell seems to do well with that approach. He was pretty much error free earlier this year and that went a long way to making the skins victory on the road against us.

The skins O-line does not have KC like numbers so I don't see Portis doing all that well. Portis doesn't have the power of a Johnson so the "mush forward" push done so well by KC will not work as well for the skins. You aren't going to score a bunch of points.

It all really comes down to your defense. Frankly, if your defense contains our offense as well as you did last time, it will be tough for Dallas to win. Our offense (and the O-line in particular) has something to prove. If you shut us down, you win. As always turnovers can provide a big swing depending on how the ball bounces.

i am more concerned about the boys than the giants, honestly, for several reasons.

first, the skins may be without springs and rogers. when harris was playing a month ago before rogers replaced him, he was getting torched. if the skins cant get a pass rush, this could be a problem, although it seems they have gotten some pressure on the QB lately.

second, brunell hasnt looked great for over a month. i cant figure him out- early on he was scrambling and making clutch throws. i can only guess his legs are wearing down as the season goes on. some say a bad hammy was the main reason he looked so bad last year, though you'd think it wouldnt matter as much for a QB. it seems the skins don't have a number 2 WR. after moss, either nobody has stepped up, or brunell hasnt found them if they get open. jacobs-who everyone says is a superstar in practice- has done nothing but drop catchable balls. patten did nothing when he was healthy. cooley is essentially the #2, but he can't go a game without dropping/tipping a pass or fumbling lately. turnovers will be huge this game as both teams should not be able to move the ball very well.

as far as the giants, i think losing pierce for a few games could be big. of the free agents the skins have lost, he's the only one that seems to have had a negative impact. the skins seemed to miss him early on this season, but the D has been better recently. the giants road record isnt good- much like the entire division. and eli has been ordinary. the skins will want to show that first game was a fluke- the skins had 9 dropped balls that game- and they'll need it to have any hope of the playoffs.

i think the team that holds onto the ball this weekend wins the game.

I don't think Washington will beat the Giants. I think they'll mail it in after they are eliminated.
