Comments from the referee on the first down call

It was like that 20 yard catch/run by Bryant earlier in the game. He ran out past the first down marker, yet they spotted the ball a yard behind it. I watched it several times and it looked like he made it past that marker every time to me.

I did the exact same thing. They took at least two yards away from Dez to make that a 2nd & 1 when everyone in the stadium could see it was a first down.

What is the issue?

Successful trolling by old man Gene Steratore.

He didn't need to do the index card trick....but it was fun and I'm sure he knew it would generate some talk the morning after.

You could tell by the look on his face as he signaled 1st down. It was almost as if he was trying to keep himself from bursting out laughing.

Overall, I liked it.
