Does it seem to anyone else that this whole TO thing is a little too polarized than it need be? Both sides have pretty good points but by taking sides, individuals are spewing nonsense in response to some pretty good points. I guess that's more fun but I'd rather get it right. So here's my effort at separating the good from the BS. And so people can judge rather or not I'm being fair, I'll say up front that I'm much more in sympathy with the anti-TOers than the pro-TOers.
Can we all agree that the media has been over the top at times because this is TO and the Cowboys? They have, for sure, paid much more attention to TO's hammie than to Smith's.
On the other hand, can we all agree that this argument cannot rationally be used as a trump card? For example, just because the media is out to get us does not mean that it's unimportant that TO is not practicing and BP requires players to practice.
Can we agree that TO's background is spotty at best? We know he plays hard, we know he keeps himself in shape, we know that the Eagles deserve some of the responsibility for his behavior. On the other hand, we know he's a headcase that causes problems.
On the current issue, can we not agree that TO might be faking it (at least to some extent) and that TO might be pushing this past where it needs to be pushed. But, on the other hand, can we not agree that TO might be telling the truth about having a sore hammy?
As for the field, can we not agree that if and when TO gets on the field he'll play well to great, regardless of his lack of practice and that were we to cut him today (a move I favor, by the way), our current group of receivers would be worse off? Sure, they look good now but just wait till DC's like Greg Williams figure out they can go back to doubling up on T. Glenn.
