Is it just me or are theses things brutal??

I dread mine every year

:eek::

I enjoyed mine at the last company I worked for because usually they were at a different place every year. The food was great and there was always an open bar.

Nothing says fun like watching a managing partner whose had a bit too much to drink on the dance floor doing the harlem shuffle.

My new company doesn't do anything as fantastic as that company. We just do potlucks. The upside is that we have such a diverse set of employees that some of the food brought is quite delish.

Due to the nature of our business (Hotel) We have ours in January. I never go.

You don't like your co-workers?

For some reason, my company has it's after the new year as well and has some theme, like 'beach' where everyone was dressed as though at the beach. Though not me and the women aren't in bikini's. :eek::

Last year was my first and it was 'ok'. It was open bar, lots of food, but kind of boring. A lot of hailing people that have been with the company since time out of mind and that sort of thing.

I prefer the art department lunch we have each year, because it's smaller and more personal.

We pay for each regional office to have their own Christmas party rather than bringing everyone to corporate. Plus, it's more economical and the parties are more intimate because these are people they work with everyday.

Each office does something different. Some make reservations at restaurants. Some do dinner theaters. We leave it all up to each group.

Beats putting people on a plane, flying them across country, doing the hotel thing and watching people be miserable because they had to travel.

My former company had ours in October. We only had one disaster of an event. They ran out of food.

The open bar kinda made up for it. lol

Since I work remotely out of state, I never get to go. I would certainly go if I was there, though. They have them at nice places and they look like a lot of fun.

I love our work parties because the people I work with are great and the executives tend to skip them.

Not one tiny bit... ;)

Due to the size of my company (10,000+ employees) they do company sponsored events around the city rather than a true company Christmas party. We always try to attend as many as possible. Everything is very cheap to attend and the food is always great.
