Comparing GM Pressers

excellent work by
Jerry is the new Al Davis.
Al Davis towards the end had totally gone senile. he was making all the decisions and making all the wrong decisions, like drafting Demarcus Russell because he had a strong arm and the kid from maryland Heyward-Bey who was no better than our Butler, but because he was fast and you can't teach speed. both were two of the biggest top 10 busts.

Jerry is in that realm now. making stupid trades like for Lance and Mingo, neither of which made sense. drafting players like Mazi and we got lucky they wrestled him down, but he really wanted to draft Manziel, because he was thinking how many Jerseys he could sell.

this team will continue to flounder and make mistake after mistake until Jerry is gone (god rest his soul)
Its nothing but a big charade that goes on and on. I can't watch it anymore because you never know what they are going to do.

After listening to today’s Cowboys “pre-draft press conference” and once again hearing the oldest GM in NFL history talk non-sense for what seems like forever, I decided to listen to a video clip of Howie Roseman’s presser.

The comparison is embarrassing. Roseman actually speaks in complete sentences, makes sense and has a general humble command of his situation. Roseman’s pc lasts 27 min.

Listening to our 82 year old GM ramble is just embarrassing. I guess we get so used to just putting up with not only non-sensical Jerry but his giggling son who is sitting up there for one simple reason: His birth certificate. Jerry’s presser is over an hr.

You can decide. Who makes more sense?

Roseman clip:

Jerry’s clip:

As far as importance, this is like a teat on a mosquito. Talk is talk, no matter how authentic or choreographed. All that matters is what they produce, now that's big, like testicles on a bull. Unfortunately for us, Jerry's production is way closer to the mosquito than the bull.

What a dichotomy…
HR is on-point, insightful, concise and not only shows an extensive understanding of the draft process and roster management, but has demonstrated that skill as well. Both HR and NS are talking and contributing during the press conference. One listening to this would take away that the organization is focused and prepared to deal with and take advantage of any opportunities presented in a dynamic setting that is the draft.
Contest that to Jerry, who is tremulous and doodling incessantly, handing out folksy stories in Dallas Cowboys’ history and chatting it up with members of the media; jabbering incessantly, while taking time away from the people who should be speaking:,Shotty and McClay. I don’t know how many times Jerry and Stephen talk about things that they have no business in doing so and should have deferred to those two. How many minutes were they into the press conference before Shotty spoke his first words?
The Eagles talked about preparation and being opportunistic; recognizing scenarios change and having to react accordingly; the Cowboys talked about how everybody talks to one another and patting each other on the back.
Lastly, I thought the Philly media asked some pretty good questions; whereas, I thought the Dallas media threw up a lot of fluff questions, which of course Jerry was only too happy to answer.
Clearly, not hard to see the different preparations of these two organizations, nor how these preparations have impacted the performances of these two organizations.

Jerry is getting is too old. I am not an ageist. I have seen people, like my mother, working into her late 80s with no apparent signs of slowing down, other than her hearing. But for some people, their brains go first and earlier than for others. The people around them may not notice because it is the boiling frog scenario.

Jerry Jones is showing the signs. The rambling answers to simple questions, the longing for the good old days, the irrelevant stories that only he cares for, and a certain incoherence in his thought processes. Subtle, but when compared to normal people it becomes more obvious.

Unfortunately, as he goes down, so do the Cowboys. But I really believe he is only another 2 or 3 years from being out of the picture completely. Once the decline starts, it doesn't stop. It accelerates.

The saddest part is over the years watching smart professional people having to sit by and yield to a rambling buffoon when it comes to answering questions about picking players, talking about building a football team, game day strategy and basically anything about running a franchise from the football side of things. He's a constant embarrassment to those on the stage with him and the members of the team and the fans as well and a constant reminder of why we have had the perennial failures that we have for three decades now. There is no person in sports who has more cemented his legacy of incompetence than Jerry Jones. Money over championships. Recognition over results. Hubris over pretty much everything. Some day we may win another SB but it will be in spite of him and his family not in any way whatsoever because of them.

Some things to notice from the two pressers:
  • Eagles pc lists their HC first. The eaglets owner Jeffrey Lurie isn’t even there. Roseman lets the HC talk. Even the background sign is just the eagles logo with a small Toyota logo. Lasts 27 min.
  • Contrasted by Jerry’s 1 hr presser where he does most of the talking, tells folksy stories no one cares about and the whole group sits in front of a giant Lite beer sign with the star logo.
It's a microcosm of the philosophical differences.

Jerry and Co are all about show and entertainment. The set objectively looks better, but there is nothing of substance here.

Things like this make the Cowboys a national presence which is good for the NFL. It just isn't good for us fans.

Pardon me for not giving a crap on what the Cryptkeeper has to say. I would think after three decades of the nonsense from this clown that most fair minded people have also had their fill.

It’s really just pathetic at this point.

The backdrop is the exact same design. One uses a beer logo, the other Toyota.

I can't imagine caring about who has the more "impressive" press conference.

Weird.

Howie said he values the DT position and the inside rush, and will get what he wants
there in draft or FA.
they also want good people, no bossman fats.
