I agree with Rack in that it sort of bugs me that a black player is almost always compared to only other black players...and the same with white players. I say it 'sort of' bugs me because I understand why it usually happens that way. The good news is that it's not done out of racism...more out of prejudice (Literally PRE judging someone based on appearance or origin).
The whole color thing isn't meant as a slur or anything. It's human nature and happens subconsciously. When you see somebody and you try to compare them in the same light as someone else people tend to automatically include their looks as well as their ability...even if it's something superficial like complexion.
So it's irritating but somewhat unavoidable.
For the record, Carpenter as a player reminds me of Ken Norton.
