This is silly, but I hope you all enjoy this.

If you’ve ever played Super Mario Kart, I think you will enjoy this piece. Below I compared some of this year’s top running back prospects to characters from the SNES version of Mario Kart (By the way, Super Mario Kart came out in 1992. I suddenly feel really, really old). This is just for fun, so don’t take these comparisons too seriously. But if choose to, come challenge me in a race. You won’t win, but you can try. Let’s get started.
Ezekiel Elliott – Mario
If you ask anyone who has ever played Mario Kart who their favorite character to use is, most people will say Mario. And that makes sense. I mean, his name is in the title of the game. He has no real weakness and he’s relatively fast compared to the rest of the characters. He’s easy to use and you can win a lot of races with him. I feel the same way about Elliott. He fits any scheme. He doesn’t have a weakness and he can play right away and produce at a high level. He’s going to be the first running back chosen and I won’t fight you on it.
Derrick Henry – Bowser
For most gamers, Bowser is someone you typically avoid when choosing your driver. He’s big and fast, but he’s just too hard to control for novices. Bowsers’ acceleration and handling are low, making him difficult to use on any track that requires a lot of quick turns. And as always, the start of a race was always frustrating when using Bowser, because you never started out in fast. It took a seemingly long time to build up to top speed. Little Toad and Yoshi would always pass you within the first few seconds of the race. Ugh. Still frustrating.
However, with the right person controlling the sticks, he’s the best character on the game, even despite the slow starts. Bowser was always a favorite of mine because I liked to go fast and knock guys out of the way. Maybe this is the reason I’m so high on Derrick Henry. Give me Henry in the right scheme and I will terrify my opponents, just like I did with Bowser. Sure he may not start the race out fast and he needs a nice straight away to get going1), but after that, look out. There’s no one better on the game.
