FS looks like deep position in this draft. I know that Byron Jones looks to have filled FS position for Cowboys. But I am firm believer in collecting quality DBs and letting coaches figure out where to play them. Dallas could move Jones back to slot and be nightmare for opposing TEs and let one of guys below be starting FS.

1. Ramsey - I won't go into much detail as my affinity for his play is abundantly clear in my previous post. Here is his video:

2. Justin Simmons - FS Boston College. He will play in East/West Shrine game. Great size at 6'3" with long arms. Team captain. Elite ball skills. The knock on him is hips can be tight in coverage.

Detailed video breakdown:

I really think Jalen Ramsey is over rated. So many here (and other fan bases) clamor for a ball hawking FS and what happens is when any FS looks legit, they rocket up the draft boards of fans and pundits. And I'm not saying Ramsey will not be a good player, but I am saying, I would not spend a top ten pick on a DB that does not get interceptions. Byron Jones is similar in athletic ability and I am fine with where we took him, but I would not have if it meant using a top 15 pick or so.

Darian Thompson looks like a good one. It is nice that Jones can play both FS and CB as it opens up the avenues to improve the secondary.

I'm curious to see if William Jackson from Houston could play Safety. He's not a bad corner, but I think he'd make a great centerfielder. Also, having 2 safeties who can play corner in a pinch would really give us some insurance.

I like Thompson as well. And while listed at SS, I also like Vonn Bell. Think both potentially have the versatility to play either safety spot...particularly when factoring in various packages.

They could continue to use Jones in his multi-faceted role...covering TE's, etc. But if committing him to FS...I wonder if they then simply let Church & Wilcox battle it out for the starting SS spot? Hard to say.

I've been saying this for months. Ramsey is overrated.

He is one of the few guys in the draft who could play both safety spots. I liken him to Ed Reed. Remember, Ed Reed played SS and was still one of the best ball hawking safeties of our time.

No he didn't, maybe he was listed as one at Miami, but in the NFL he was listed as a FS and in both Baltimore and Miami, he played mainly deep center field, not in the box.

Strong safety doesn't always play in the box. That is a formation and play designation, not one predicated on position. In a cover two, neither safety plays in the box, by definition.

He played SS for the Ravens for a third of his career.

From 2002, when he was drafted, until 2005, Reed played strong safety next to Will Demps who played free safety. When the Ravens selected Dawan Landry, he didn't have nearly the range for FS so they moved Reed there. Landry was the SS from '06-'11. In 2012, Bernard Pollard was signed by the Ravens, who had even less range than Landry, and Reed remained at FS, though he was a shell of himself.

Reed had or tied for his best season for tackles (85), interceptions (9), forced fumbles (3), sacks (2), passes deflected (17) and stuffs (8) as a strong safety in his first four years.

Like I said, he played strong safety for the Ravens and Joseph compares very nicely to him in style, versatility and range.

Jalen Ramsey may be a lot of things. Overrated is not one of them. Trust me, he is absolutely not overrated and probably the third best player in the draft after Tunsil and Bosa.

Why is he overrated? Cause he doesn't have flashy numbers? If you've seen him play there is no chance you make that claim.

that could change quickly after East/West shrine game. It will be interesting to see where he is slotted right before draft.

Since most seem to like Thompson (and he does look good in pass & run defense) and being from Boise State carries weight. Here is little sauce for you:

I like Ramsey a lot and I do think he's one of the top talents in this draft however I just think he's a luxury we can't afford as hell require a top ten pick. I think that with us picking this highly we have to use the opportunity to go after a QB like Goff and if he's gone, trade down to target Elliott since that's our biggest need. I prefer to try to go sign one of the top fs FAs.

Definitely seen Florida State play several times over the last few years, he's good, but realistically, he's not going o be a shut down CB in the NFL and yes, he does not make flashy plays, which needs to be the case if your picking him at #4. If you move him to safety, it's unlikely he ends up being a guy that gets you 4-5 picks every year, so again, I'd say he's not worth the #4 pick.
