Can someone who knows a lot about the rules of the compensatory picks take a shot at what we may be getting for this upcoming draft?

Based on fuzzy secondary info, it looks like the Cowboys will get a bevy of 7th round picks. Maybe one of those as high as a 6th.

It's all based on the size of the contracts of the players you lost, vs. the size of the contracts of the players you signed. Jenkins signed with Oakland, but only for 1 year/1.5 million. Connor signed a similar contract with the Giants. We signed Durant for a relatively small amount, along with a bevy of other street FA's (not sure if they count because we didn't take them from other teams). Overall, I think it'll be a wash. We might get a 7th.

Two extra sevenths so far IIRC. I think we get the Bears' seventh - Dante Rosario had to be active 8 games for us to get the pick and it looks like he hit that milestone last week. Also, we get the Chief's seventh in the Edgar Jones trade (gave up our sixth). The Lissemore seventh went to the Colts for C. Rayford. .. Might have missed one or more in the flurry.

Those weren't compensatory, which are awarded for having a net loss in FA. Those picks were traded for. They were conditional, but the conditions were met.

Two extra 7th rounders?

That'll equates to about 2 additional 3rd or 4th round prospects according to Jerry.

This.

It's based on the size of the contract. The signing of Durant and Allen probably offset the loss of Felix and Mike Jenkins.

Nobody seems to know the exact formula except Goodell, but based on history, you have to lose a player that signed a huge contract to get back anything significant.

In the 2013 draft, 3 teams received picks after the 3rd round. Those were Houston, Tennessee and KC. The picks would have been for players lost after the 2011 season. Mario Williams final year in Houston was 2011 and his contract with Buffalo was worth about 100M.
