Competition will be good for Dez

If Dez is to remain on the Cowboys, having him face some competition for playing time should be beneficial for him. For his whole career he's basically been "The Guy" and no one else was close. That has lead to some complacency and no urgency/need to concern himself with going the extra mile to hone his craft to the max extent.
Now, maybe having others around who could be a threat to his position on the team may result in him going that extra mile.
I'm sure he's always worked hard but he was able to rely on his physical gifts and falsely assumed that
would get him by.
Hopefully this is a wake-up call for him. If he does get right with his preparation then he can remain an effective target.

Dez is nothing if not a competitor, don’t think he needs a wake up call in that department. You hear stories of him making practices ultra competitive every year. .

What he might need is to calm down and focus on the details.

If the guy out performs T-Will and is a true #2 and Dak is comfortable with this guy then Dez will be off the hook this year. If there is actually 2 WR that defenses have to watch good then it opens things up. No more free lance Dak scrambling around and WR running to a open spot after there route is done.

Agree, having a 1b instead of a 2 on the opposite side will greatly help Dez and the whole offense.

Competition can be a good thing, but why do I suspect good ol' uncle Jerry has his arm around Dez assuring him that he's not going anywhere?

Competition is good if done properly where the winner actually wins which wouldn't happen in this case. If Dez was beat out of his starting role legitimately his distractions would be unbearable and divide the locker room.

And actually practicing against decent corners will make him better as well. All he did was **** on brandon carr and scandrick in training camp.

Yep, he'll be competing with Josh Gordon in Cleveland soon.
