Revel missed all training camp and preseason and was coming off an ACL injury. He looked exactly like you would expect. I'm confident we will see a completely different player this season, even CP is excited about his season. Bland's strength is technical, football IQ, and instinct. He's never been a speed guy........he's a better slot player than outside.

Understand but what tells you he can be a starting cb? We saw not one thing that said he can do it. Like it or not, our starters aren't on this team.

if bland and Revel are our 2 starters we get boat raced worse than last season. Revel showed without doubt he can't play yet. He should not see playing time barring an injury. Hes too raw. Bland looks slow and confused. I think his wheels are cooked. Too many Lower leg issues. We need to acquire two capable starters.

To be fair. He wasn't prepared...I don't think he had OTAs or camp last year and he was obviously still hurt. He should NOT have been out there but they had no alternative. I think he has the raw skill to be a guy (maybe THE guy) but lets see what he does with a good offseason and preseason. How much of Bland being confused was Eberflus and how much of him looking slow was his foot problems? I think we should relax about some of this stuff. It's still early. They now have a day 2 pick that they gives them more options. They a little more cap space.

It's CB and LB in the draft or LB and Edge. Ideally you would really only want to have to deal with two positions vs. three, which means that they still need to get another piece in FA. It's NOT done yet. Going to the draft with one too many needs imo.

I suspect Locke, James, and Otito will end up being backups after the draft and other player acquisitions. Thompson could end up at safety instead of the big nickel.

Ideally Hooker would end up as a backup as well.

But really my point is: once you take the NT out, the defense just becomes a 4-3 nickel. Which is why I’m not buying into everyone trying to pigeon hole 3-4 specific players to the Cowboys like it’s the 1990’s still

Well, they were never going to do it in one offseason. Keep in mind, we could trade down BOTH 1st-rounders (if we can find a trading partner) and pick up an extra 2nd- or 3rd-round pick. This would mean
1st.....our own
1st.....Packers
2nd....trade down
3rd/2nd....trade down
3rd....Osa
That's potentially 5 new starters if you play your cards right..........remember Jerry said we don't have time for redshirts. We need players hitting the ground running.

That is nice in theory and probably works on these draft simulators but you actually need to have teams willing to trade up and also give you the value you want to make the trade down a good deal. Also, it depends on what players are on the board when you draft. A player could fall to you that you weren’t expecting so a trade down would be stupid. Like the year Lamb fell to us.

Jerry has a history of using his 1st round picks on positions that lose a starting player ......see Guyton = Tyron Smith, Booker = Zack Martin. It's why I am a 100% confident he will target Diggs and Osa replacements with high picks.

I hate the idea of drafting need in first rnd but sometimes you have no choice I guess. Ideally needs are filled with decent options in FA then you can get the best player at a handful of positions. They don’t seem excited about mccoy, delane is not likely to be there. We may see a lot of trading back. Trading back from either picks is a high probability but wouldn’t surprise me if we traded back at both

This. People who thought we were going to take one of the worst defenses the NFL, then move it to a 3-4 base and turn it into a top 10 defense in ONE offseason was dreaming. I mean it COULD happen but in all seriousness this was going to be a 2 to 3 year plan. I really think they were hoping to get Crosby but didn't think anyone would offer 2 number ones and then his knee issue might have turned them off. I wonder if we could get Joey Bosa or Arnold Ebiketie on a 1 year deal, then give me Bobby Wagner at LB on a 1 year deal, maybe try to get CB Cobie Durant ( who is pretty small but decent slot CB). And then lets prepare for the draft.

I would have loved to have gotten at least 1 FA linebacker that could push for starting duties but I guess that is just how the cookie crumbles. Bobby Wagner is still out there and playing at a high level.

Osa has already been replaced w/ Ogboner. Very underrated signing.

We need so many players though, a couple DTs, a DE (I look at Gary as average, not a lot of improvement from what Clowney gave us last year), 2 LBs, at least 1 Corner lol….we will have a hard time filling those gaps in the draft and if we don’t do much the rest of FA.

DTs? We have Clark/Q/Ogboner and Gary who can slip in as a 3/4 DE. Where is this need?
