Computer Advice

Just my 2 cents.

I have had Dell, Compaq and HP Laptops... they all ran too hot. Hard drives usually cooked.

I got a Sony Vaio 2 years and have bought 2 more since and ONLY refer the Sony for laptop. They run very cool.

Desktops I would go for Dell or HP.

yup disregard stability, protection, ease of use...you know alot of the important things

Again, you can install Mac OSX on your PC. They have the same hardware. Where's the difference in stability, ease of use, protection, etc? There isn't one.

Yes but you don't feel as hip or cool like the guy in the commercials.:laugh2:

And you can install windows on a mac.

As far as price is concerned. I paid less for my 20'' iMac with a few add-ons and the apple service plan then I did for the crappy *** dell that I bought a few years ago with fewer add-ons and no service plan.

In the end, I ended up paying for not having a service plan. Guess I was just optimistic when I assumed that an expensive laptop would last more than a year.

All about what ya like. There are some good PCs out there. In fact, there are some pretty good desktop setups but I couldn't imagine trading in one of those for the mac.

just because their is the same hard ware doesn't mean you can install the same OS. I've installed Mac os-x, Win Xp on my mac yet can't install linux for some reason, on my beater laptop i have xp and linux but no os-x (with out using 3rd party applications). to install Os-x on home built computer you have to alter the coding of OS-x or use a crappy emulation program which will boggle down your system to a crawl regardless of your computers specs

Sorry for the delay in responding. I did not mean to post and run but there is a reason I'm getting a new CPU. Right now my only access is from work. I'm actually printing out this thread so I can take it home and work some more on my options tonight. I appreciate all the feedback.
