I have windows Vista unfortunately and I've been having problems uploading files. Music files and other type off stuff. I've been trying to upload the files to my PSP and ever time I try to upload the files it will say something like source not found and blah blah blah and I will have to cancel the download. I know that the files are there because they're music files if they weren't there they wouldn't be playing on my comp. So I want to know is there anyway I could straighten out this error. Also it's not the USB port cord or the PSP because I've been able to upload music and movies from my laptop which is currently dead because I broke the battery. So I was wondering if any of you computer savy people know a way around this problem if so what I could do if not then IDK thanks in advanced.

Sure by yourself an adapter to convert the hard drive to your laptop to an external usb hard drive

They have kits you pull out the hard drive from the laptop connect it up plug in usb cable to a computer

I don't think Macs can connect to PC's like that. I don't know if that would work because when I copy the file and go to paste it to a new location it most likely won't even show up.

Are you running Vista on a Mac?

No my Mac is old. I don't think it could handle running Vista. I am running Vista on my Comp. My Mac runs normally.

Sorry I am not smart enough to know how to operate a mac

I can do Windows xp, vista; server 2008, 2003 ,2000 etc etc

I can do a little linux and unix stuff enough to break anyways

When it comes to Macs I never fit in with the super smart can not get a girlfriend crowd :D

I am pretty confused?

What exactly are you trying to upload files from (Vista or Mac) onto your PSP?

If it is Vista, are you sure the drivers installed correctly onto the computer when you downloaded the PSP software?

If it says source not found, that means either the computer or the PSP is not getting/sending the signal.

Don't worry about the mac. I'm having trouble taking files from vista and putting them onto my PSP.

If it says source not found, that means it is not getting any signal from the PSP.

It's vista what do you mean PSP software? I download file unzip it. Put my psp into USB mode connect put the file from comp to my PSP and it will says error file not found.

I don't have a PSP, but I was just guessing that it came with some software to upload files onto there, guess not. (Most things do)

Does the PSP have a SD card slot? Try uploading some music files onto an SD card and see if it works.

And also, what file are you unzipping? If it is just a music file, theres no need to unzip.

Nvm, I see it does not have an SD slot..

Soooo...let see....once you connect the USB to the computer, are you sure the computer is recognizing it? Ex: To transfer files onto the PSP the computer will recognize a "Removable Disk (F: )" drive in the my computer section.

do you get that?

yea the computer recognizes my PSP. then when I go to copy my songs from computer to the PSP is when I get the error. Files that I unzip are games. I can download games and put them on my psp also same goes with movies.

Just look for service pack 1 or 2 etc... You'll see it.

Go here and download "Windows Vista SP1." Look to the left on the page.

Briefly reading the instructions, you need to create a folder called PSP (if it doesn't exist) and inside that folder another folder called MUSIC, then copy the mp3 files there.
