I bought the logitech Z-5500 about a year and 3 months ago, but for about a year of that time I've had this ANNOYING "popping" sound coming from the speakers. I thought it was a problem on my end but I found out it's a problem with that model (with models made before Nov. 2006). I don't know if they're going to replace them or not, and if they don't I'll need to buy some new ones.

Any recommendations? I won't be buying logitech again if they don't replace them. Of all the speakers systems (for computers) I've bought over the years, these are the only ones I've ever had a problem with. I would have gone back to klipsch but apparently they don't make a 5.1 set up for computers anymore.

I've had the same Klipsch set now for at least 6 years... could be 7.

It was the original 4.1 system for the PC that Klipsch made.

I guess they are reliable as they come... has been through several moves including college trips and home moves.

When I moved out of my parents house back in the summer I bought a brand new set (Quintet) for my home theatre. I absolutely love them.

Be careful with Klipsch, too. My husband had their 5.1s for a few years, and really liked them until the amp went south last month--apparently there are some substandard electronics that are well-known to go bad. He decided to get the Z5500s rather than spend the $100+ it was going to cost just to have the subwoofer guts replaced.

I've had Cambridge Soundworks for many years now and I love them...

I got Bose for my computer. They are only 2.1 but damn do they rock. First day I had them I got a noise complaint from my neighbor.

I have cheap old polar bear speakers that I have had for 5+ years. They are not top notch but they work ok for me.

If I want top notch sound I will just use my actual stereo.:)

you could buy a pair of monitors instead of small satellite speakers for about the same price.

Behringer ms 20's are about 90 bucks.

I had a capacitor blow in my subwoofer. All I had to do was take it apart and replace a .12 cent or so part and it was as good as new. It's not like there are a ton of components that go bad in these things.

Klipsh - the ONLY speaker to have for your PC.

Love mine. I have used Klipsh for years. Excellent gaming speakers and MM speakers.

I have Monsoon MM-700 flat panel PC speaker system that I've had for about four years. I think they put out some pretty decent sound for the price I paid, which was I think $79.00. It has amp with a subwoofer that is to placed on the floor and the flat panels for the desk top so it produces above average stereo sound for a PC sound system.

Yeah I should have stuck with Klipsch. I went with the logitech speakers cuz some people recommended it (I think it was people from here). They put out AWESOME sound for about 3 months, then they started that popping noise. It's a common problem with that model (before 11/06).

I would go with Klipsch but they only make 2.1 setups now. Don't know why they don't do 5.1 anymore.

I have had the 2.1 for several years now and never have a problem. It makes a popping noise when you first turn it on, but not after that and the neighbors hate them.:

Analog. I want to switch to optical but my sound card doesn't support it.

I've got a pair of Bose Video Roomate speakers that I've used on every computer I've owned since 1992.
