The failed drug test at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine won't help Randy Gregory, nor will his struggle to maintain the weight needed to play on the line of scrimmage in the NFL.

But the reason the Nebraska star is likely to drop on Thursday -- maybe out of the first round -- is much deeper than that.

At least three general managers view him as a top-five talent. But according to more than a dozen coaches, scouts, personnel chiefs and GMs, there is concern about Gregory's ability to handle the mental rigors of professional football. And just how far he drops in this week's draft will likely hinge on the individual psychological profiles (and the results of related testing) put together by each team, according to multiple veteran evaluators. He has been taken off a several team's draft boards, according to multiple sources.

Im very conficted with Gregory. On one hand he is an elite pass rusher and as a player I feel he is a true top 5 talent. As a player, your never going to get that level talent at 27. On the other hand, he has a very high bust potential.

I would when you are picking that deep, your team is good enough to be able to afford a miss that late as opposed to the Claiborne pick where we were middling talent wise. That deep in the first has about a 50% bust rate anyways

More than anything thinking about the rigors of a 16 game season has soured me on the 230 lb Gregory. Same with OO (both hips) and Kendricks (size and constant injuries) as well. Not @27.

I think in the pros Gregory with more access to professionals Gregory can keep weight on. I think he can play at about 260 and keep his burst. Im not all that concerned about.

Im more concerend he goes Underwood on us
