Concern re Garrett getting HC job

Let me start off by saying that I really do think Garrett would make an excellent HC of the Cowboys. My concern is Jerry. You would think he'd muzzle his comments re Dez returning punts next season, Romo possibly playing in last game of season, etc., with a new interim HC. Yet Jerry continues to open his month. He's not operating as a GM but de facto HC.

I just don't think he will give Garrett enough authority to get the job done. Believe Garrett deferred to Wade a lot just to ensure no division existed on the team & because he saw his role as supporting the HC. If Garrett becomes HC, will he have the balls to go toe to toe with Jerry to get the things done that he feels are necessary to improve this team.

I share your concerns. Jerry needs to be shutting up about Romo's playing time. He needs to shut up about most things. But he can't. He is a pathological attention *****. It has to be all about Jerry, all channels, all the time. It seems to be getting worse. He was on 60 Minutes tonight, but that's not enough screen time for Jerry, so he has to be on the sideline, yucking with the players.

Probably hoping someone would want his autograph at midfield after the game...

Whether Jerry hires him full time or not, Garrett is going to be a fine HC in this league. Jerry will RUE the day he lets him walk!

Have no fear, the increasingly worse by the week Bryan Broaddus said today in his opinion garrett wont be back and his reason was ticket sales.

I really dont like broaddus and listening to him take shots at some people after the saints loss told me all I need to know about the guy.

His obsession with reid and the holmgren staff is nauseating and I know he must want one of those guys here.

He has become one of the 103.3 guys this year for sure. He is not listenable anymore and his insistence that garrett wont be back is pretty foolish, or in other words right up 103.3's alley.

today was a terrible job of coaching for dallas. at some point u have to take shots downfield. spread the field if u have to. dont allow the opposing team to box everything inside.

today was a good example of it takes more then just a dress code and everything else garrett has changed. he has to be willing to adjust his gameplan when it isnt working. what dallas did in the 1st quarter they were still trying to get working in the 4th.

IMO he reverted back to a reaction mentality instead of going for the kill. kinda like the coaqches were hoping they could pull it out with a win instead of taking it.

I agree with you both! Jerry's megalomaniacal behavior could be the fatal flaw in any plan for the future.

I don't get it. Garrett has won me over. I can't imagine Jerry letting him walk, consideringn the difference between now and the first eight games this year.

Don't know what Broadus' problem is.

do you realize he was calling that stuff, they were trying and trying and kitna will not throw the ball to austin down the field. Garrett even said in the pc that he called numerous times for down field plays.

If you have a dig with garrett that is fine, imo the dress code and the way this team has been going about things are exactly how it should be done.

The reason people are debating kitna/romo and the like is because this team is functioning as a team at the moment. You cant fix the personnell during the season, you can only demand better and show people how to achieve better. Set expectations and demand the work be done.

Kitna IMO has been getting a little worse each week, throw in a line that cant win the battle up front and its a tough chore, but because the TEAM has been playing well people have misplaced that for kitna picking them up.

Ozzie Newsome is one of the best if not the best GMs in the league, he has been outspoken about not hiring imitators or fakes and he wanted to hire Garrett.

That is all I need to know. We wont get to many more candidates like that here, just retreads.

I for one cant wait to see the defensive staff and roster get shaken up and see how this thing looks in the spring.

Broaddus is an espn 1033 guy. Plain and Simple. They have to use agendas to get listeners. They have poor broadcasters and they cover sports in this market very poorly.

Broaddus has turned into one of them 100%. IMO he isnt even worth paying attention to anymore.

He has had an agenda with this staff for a couple of years now, everything gets compared to reid in philly or holmgren in GB. Its impossible to listen to for me. Others make like it.

I listened for 10 minutes on my way home. Its awful. They were talking about reid being in control and not allowing knuckleheads to do classless things under him and how he doesnt stand for it. That is just asinine and isnt worth continuing to listen for.

He loves those holmgren guys and always talks and acts like they had it all figured out up there, which is far from true.

well garrett can say what he wants. but they were pointing this out all night about the wrs not even running deep routes. barely past 1st down markers. you cant say that garrett is calling all these routes being in a 2 te set and both of them staying inside to block or one releasing, i just hope he learns to utilize his weapons better.

i agree with u 100% on the defense. this defense is garbage. whats suprising to me how much ware has regressed on outside containment. the guy that seems to be getting better is bradie james. hes everywhere.

If Manning doesnt throw 2 pick sixes and if Reggie Wayne doesnt drop an easy 1st down catch in OT, Garrett is on a 3 game losing streak.

Some of the glitter is starting to wear off the boy wonder.

If Roy doesn't fumble they are 4-1 since he took over. That's the way it works.

Yes, but he might not be for us.

Can't disagree with this.

There is a lot of good with Garrett but the spector of Jerry's shadow and some unusual offensive schemes have me on the fence.

Good post. I don't need to add a thing beside my agreement.

A lot of that is on the QB's discretion...and it turned out pretty good. Kitna avoided the negative sacks and the offense scored enough to win.

I have zero clue what you are griping about.
