Concerned about the defense

Glad that we got the win today. But, can't help this nagging feeling about the defense keeping this game closer than it should have been. I believe more in the offenses ability to keep up with or stay in the game with just about any playoff contending team or QB. But, our defense isn't playing up to their hype and I'm worried that the offense has to score 30+ points against all playoff caliber teams for us to have a chance at the division and a deep playoff run.

The defense is a concern. Our run defense alone is what is holding this team back. If the Cowboys were solid against the run I believe our record would be much better.

I've read plenty of other folks asking basically the same thing almost all season long.

It is weird. We've added Quinn & now Bennett. Dlaw is doing his thing. He may not be getting all the sacks, but he is definitely disruptive.

? This has been ongoing for several years. There's only been a very few posters actually lauding our D.

The defense plays soft and when they have a lead, they play softer. I wish they would get more aggressive. Sure they will give up some big plays but I bet in the long run they give up few points, which is what they want. They only allowed 312 yards today, but they also gave up 27 points to a backup QB and a no name RBs. I don't care if they give up 400 yards but only 17 points, do you?

You have a right to be concerned. Our linebackers are just playing poorly this season. Lee is the best we have again after he was severely outplayed by our young linebackers last year. It’s really a mystery.

But overall the defense isn’t playing with any unity or collective mind. They react. They don’t anticipate.

They don’t play up to their talent.

Not seeing a new scheme being inserted in November. Kind of at the point of no return for 2019 and no coaches are available.
