1) The identity of this team is not a great mystery like people have turned it into. TD is the identity, and it's that simple . Without Our Co-MVP's Tony and Dez, we just aren't that good. With them, we are one of the top teams.

2) JG isn't that good of a coach without Tony and Dez and Scott Linehan isn't that good of a play caller without Tony and Dez. From the first drive of the game to the last series, the coaching and play calling was pretty atrocious. One example early was first drive was going perfectly. Run, Run, Run all the way down the field perfectly. Then all of a sudden lets get cute and throw on two consecutive plays. 4 point swing. Inexcusable.

3) Tony makes T-Will better, and Dez makes BeeZ better. These guys are bad without the other two.

4) We have several players on the team who shouldn't be. Roster spots shouldn't be given because of the good old boy network. Clutz, Street , Heath, Hannah, McCray, Swaim are a few right off the top of my head. These should, at the very least be spots given to great ST players.

5) Escobar is a complete failure. It's time to move on. What a waste of size and talent. This guy should have got under JW's guidance and been ready to take over and be a protege'. Instead, he's went the opposite direction. Head scratcher for sure.

6) Joseph Randle should be used how Dunbar was being used and that's it. This guys a head case.

7) If all the guys on our team had the heart and intensity of Dez and Hardy, we would be in a different position. From the coaching staff to the rest of the team, look at those guys and take note. I know everyone calls them out, and don't understand their sideline antics, but these guys want to win.

Unlike Escobar, Lawrence shows flashes. Just way too inconsistent.

Most of this is nonsense.

Hanna was a big part of the run blocking last season. He has been injured and then missed 2 games. His return coincided with the improved run blocking.

McCray is good on ST.

Heath is good on ST and played a few snaps on defense with no problems.

Street had a brilliant TD that would have been the play of the game if they had won. He block on the penalty play was perfect but the refs screwed up that call.

Swaim was not even active. In games when he did play he was a very aggressive blocker.

I'll agree that Clutz seems like a waste of a roster spot; however, if they really wanted to add another player they can always demote the QB Moore to the practice squad.

Randle averaged 12 yards/carry before his injury in the Giants game.

Escobar has made some terrific catches in the past when Romo was the QB. He was probably the player of the game on offense last season in the home game against the Giants. He definitely has receiving skills but his limited blocking ability keeps him off the field. He would likely be decent if he ever had to fill in for Witten as the #1 TE but he is not ideal as the #2 TE role that Hanna plays.

Playing calling is always bad when it does not work and good when it does work. Did you really want them to just run the ball 10 times in a row?

Sure when you're averaging what six yards a carry? At the very least if you stick with the run you're looking at a 4th and medium at worst as opposed to a 4th and long.

Still too predicable. Too many first down runs, and too often up the middle on those. I kept screaming, at least run to the outside. Was shocked when the did, and had success. But what do they do, run on first down up the middle again the next time they had a first down.
I was also shocked when they went to the reverse with Lucky, and it worked. Was more shocked when the used him again. I like the play he came across, the little flip to him. But what I liked from Lucky was he seen the gap, cut quick and took it to get the first down. He didn't try to keep going to the corner with his speed, or try to make a bigger play. He actually got the first down first.

Other than that, I still see no imagination from the offense or the defense.

escobar and lawrence both look like wastes of 2nd round picks.

Escobar grossly is a shot pick.

Regarding Lawrence, if you look at the whole 2nd round of the 2014 draft, there's not many players that have had much impact in the league at this point.

Yes, we used our 3rd to move up but that round hasn't yielded even a few impact players either. With Lawrence it's a wash at a position we needed help in.

Number 2 is not true. JG and Scott are the same coaches with and without Dez. Just like a painter is the same artists regardless of whether he is using crayons or a professional coloring set.

The only difference is the results.

Nothing I have seen leads me to believe this is a top team with Tony and Dez.

Despite losing the turnover battle 4 to 0 the defense gave up 13 points.

Dez and Tony are two of the best players in the entire league and certainly right up there at their respective positions. This offense will operate differently...much differently...when they return.

Meanwhile the defense continues to show that it is more than good enough.

Shame it hasn't mattered for more than a month.

Idk..obviously its all hindsight and you can never say with certainty how players will turn out, but sitting pat in the 2nd and taking Jimmy Garappolo then a Devonta Freeman/Martavious Bryant type in the 3rd sure looks a lot better than the move we made.

Conclusions...

When Romo went down I, heck about anyone, knew that we would be hurting. Dez missing made it worse.

What we hoped for was a win here or there to hold out hope.

What we get so upset about is that we seen that we could have won a few of those "here or there" games but bungled them.

Now we are looking at the team and wondering if we can win any games before Romo and Dez come back. We will start
to see cracks in the team with people arguing (like the Hardy situation) on the sideline or maybe leaks into the media of discontent as
we know losing can bring out the worst in a team while winning can cure a lot of woes.

Here is something to consider though.

We continue to lose.

Romo comes back and we start winning some games but not enough to get use into the playoffs.

The season will be for nothing and we will have a middle of the pack record which gets us a middle of the pack draft pick.

The offseason will be a long one as we argue about getting a new RB, QB to groom under Romo, a WR that can bloom into a #1 pick or another player for the secondary or if
Hardy moves on we look for another pass rusher and so on.

Yep...it is VERY early on in the season but it is not looking good right now.

I don't know if one of you thinks what I'm thinking: This is a case of bad coaching. Period. Too many mistakes without consequences, too many distractions, lack of discipline. Even in the first game against the Giants, the team commited a lot of mistakes and what should have been an easy win, became a close game.

McCray is one of the better ST players in the league. Losing Gach really hurt our coverage units though. #51 took his place and he blew a shot at Harris on his return. Street made the catch of the season so far on his only target of the game. Agree with the rest, they're all churn players to me.

5) Escobar is a complete failure. It's time to move on. What a waste of size and talent. This guy should have got under JW's guidance and been ready to take over and be a protege'. Instead, he's went the opposite direction. Head scratcher for sure.

I really don't know how much of this you can put on Escobar. The Cowboys have shown no ability to effectively use a second tight end, no matter who it is. Look what Bennett has done since leaving the Cowboys.

6) Joseph Randle should be used how Dunbar was being used and that's it. This guys a head case.

What does him being a head case have to do with his production on the field? He has two runs for 24 yards before being hurt. I think it was pretty clear from yesterdays game, Whitehead is going to play the Dunbar role now.

7) If all the guys on our team had the heart and intensity of Dez and Hardy, we would be in a different position. From the coaching staff to the rest of the team, look at those guys and take note. I know everyone calls them out, and don't understand their sideline antics, but these guys want to win.

I think they all have the heart, but I agree about the intensity. I thought it said something when the Giants, while winning, showed more sense of urgency than the Cowboys did while losing. I understand Garrett is a steady guy and doesn't want guys losing control of their emotions, but at some point this team has to realize the season is slipping away and start playing with a little more fire and aggression. Garrett is essentially a cheer leader right now and he doesn't even seem to be able to rouse his players.

I did not see Devonta Freeman or Martavius Bryant listed as 3rd round draft picks in the 2014 NFL Draft. They were actually selected in the 4th round so I get your point where we could have drafted them with that 3rd rounder. If that's the point you are making. But that's 2 players out of many from round 2-4 that are performing in that draft.

It's not like we came up with 32 players within those rounds. So all in all, not alot of teams from round 2-3 drafted impact players to this point in the 2014 draft. Unless you got Derek Carr in the 2nd round like the Raiders did.
