In response to a recent media report, a question for you draftnicks. Would you rather get a 3rd this year for Romo or a conditional 3rd next year that can escalate to a 2 or perhaps even a 1 should he, say, take a team to a conference championship?

I want a player now. I don't want to wait for next year. I do think a 3rd is too low though.

Depends on the team and where they're drafting. I prefer more swings at the bat than fewer. Multiple picks given the youth on this team.

I might take less from an AFC team whereas NFC needs to overpay.

I'd always gamble on the higher pick.

Most fans want OMGRIGHTNOW though.

You take the 2018 3rd rounder that could end up being a 2nd or even a 1st based on games played/performance.

Taking a 3rd rounder now is just the impatience of fans kicking in.

I don't think you'll get a 2nd rounder for him straight up. If you got a 3rd this year and a 4th next year that could end up a 3rd or 2nd rounder in 2018, I'd think long and hard about it. There was a report a few weeks ago about maybe getting a 2nd this year and a pick next year that could turn into a 2nd.

I'd have the NFL league office on the phone in a heartbeat confirming that trade.

Yeah, I'd take the 3rd now and the conditional 2018 pick that can escalate to a 1st.

I'm a Romo fan and if he's not playing the Cowboys, I hope he does well. If him doing well also nets us a #1 pick, all the better.

Trading #28 to Denver for #20 and Romo values Romo as pick #76 in the draft. Buffalo's 3rd is pick #75. Either of those plus a conditional 2018 pick would be good value. #20 might put us in the range to draft a good DE like Charlton or Barnett.

It's not like you cannot evaluate both.

The rule of thumb is that round X this year is worth a round X + 1 next year. I woul dneed more information like where they are picking and where they are projected to pick next year to make that push.

What I want to see is a bidding war between 3 teams for his services. The QB crop sucks this year which helps.

If someone offers a top 50 pick take it or leave it then you take it. Else I wait and evaluate later. There is no rush to move him. The real benefit to having him gone doesn't kick in until 2018 when his dead money clears.

3rd this year and a conditional 3rd next year that could escalate to a 2 or drop to a 4-5th based on performance seems fair to me.

Itd depend on what team he went to.

Then again, a 3rd rounder from a crappy team would be very close to a 2 for one that went to co f champ game.
