On one hand you know that our best chance to win that game went out the window.
On the other hand I hate how Romo has been treated and the likely outcome of the game would rub the noses of all the Romo haters in it.
Especially just after he once again proved why he is a top QB. Not to mention playing most of a game probably in enough pain to send most of his critics crying home to mama.
But as a fan for over 40 years I hate the thought of the Boys losing and almost as much the Birds winning.
even though I knew that we would almost certainly get owned in whatever playoff game we got due to the putrid to end all putrid D's.
And this also gives Jerruh a ready excuse to bring Red Ball back for another year.
I happen to think Red Ball would make a VERY good GM. our own Ozzie Newsome. Just do not think he will ever make a really good HC.
No one can every really figure out what will make a great HC and what makes a mediocre one. Just like no one ever really can tell whether a great College QB will be the same in the Pros. Now a GM actually I think is easier to figure out=and Red Ball seems to have the traits one would look for in a GM/ I think he just out thinks himself as both a OC and HC. The time constraints that a HC or OC operates under is not how a GM works. And thus I think he would be much better there.
Not that it matters as its clear the only way we ever pry the reigns of the Boys from Jerruh is from his cold dead hand.
So today I sit here truly undecided about what I really feel and think.
This season really became a lost season in so many ways after all the injuries to the D. Sort of like a terminally ill person just plain refusing to lie down and die; but knowing that death is coming no matter what.
With De Ware clearly only a shell of what he once was=all those uncalled tackles and holds and other abuse he has gone through over the years finally catching up to him; and sadly a fine player named Lee who reminds me of another fine Player named Bob Sanders; who was great when he played but was hardly ever there on the field.
With Romo and a serious back injury-and one I think has been bothering him for a while- his time as a top QB might be at an end now. Back injuries are almost as bad for a QB as they are for a lineman.
I once scoffed at those that wanted to blow it all up and start over; but right now I am sadly leaning towards that right now. Just keep our youngest and best like Tyron and Fredrick and Dez and a couple others and just let everyone else age 30 or close to it go for whatever we can get for them or whatever cap relief we can get in the next couple of years.
I really cannot remember a time like this=except back in 1987 when I faced the fact that the boys were done and there was not a lot of hope out there. Maybe the football gods will give us another renaissance = maybe.
