On one hand you know that our best chance to win that game went out the window.

On the other hand I hate how Romo has been treated and the likely outcome of the game would rub the noses of all the Romo haters in it.

Especially just after he once again proved why he is a top QB. Not to mention playing most of a game probably in enough pain to send most of his critics crying home to mama.

But as a fan for over 40 years I hate the thought of the Boys losing and almost as much the Birds winning.

even though I knew that we would almost certainly get owned in whatever playoff game we got due to the putrid to end all putrid D's.

And this also gives Jerruh a ready excuse to bring Red Ball back for another year.

I happen to think Red Ball would make a VERY good GM. our own Ozzie Newsome. Just do not think he will ever make a really good HC.

No one can every really figure out what will make a great HC and what makes a mediocre one. Just like no one ever really can tell whether a great College QB will be the same in the Pros. Now a GM actually I think is easier to figure out=and Red Ball seems to have the traits one would look for in a GM/ I think he just out thinks himself as both a OC and HC. The time constraints that a HC or OC operates under is not how a GM works. And thus I think he would be much better there.

Not that it matters as its clear the only way we ever pry the reigns of the Boys from Jerruh is from his cold dead hand.

So today I sit here truly undecided about what I really feel and think.

This season really became a lost season in so many ways after all the injuries to the D. Sort of like a terminally ill person just plain refusing to lie down and die; but knowing that death is coming no matter what.

With De Ware clearly only a shell of what he once was=all those uncalled tackles and holds and other abuse he has gone through over the years finally catching up to him; and sadly a fine player named Lee who reminds me of another fine Player named Bob Sanders; who was great when he played but was hardly ever there on the field.

With Romo and a serious back injury-and one I think has been bothering him for a while- his time as a top QB might be at an end now. Back injuries are almost as bad for a QB as they are for a lineman.

I once scoffed at those that wanted to blow it all up and start over; but right now I am sadly leaning towards that right now. Just keep our youngest and best like Tyron and Fredrick and Dez and a couple others and just let everyone else age 30 or close to it go for whatever we can get for them or whatever cap relief we can get in the next couple of years.

I really cannot remember a time like this=except back in 1987 when I faced the fact that the boys were done and there was not a lot of hope out there. Maybe the football gods will give us another renaissance = maybe.

excellent, excellent post. And I concur about blowing it up...but I just cant see Jerry doing it. Coach Jones would rather keep going 8-8 with a very small chance of getting hot and making a playoff run rather than starting over and having back to back years of 2-14 and 5-11. Not only that, but with jerry calling the shots, how do we know a re-build would be successful. As a football executive, he is a total buffoon.

Excellent post by you!

garrett needs to go. this romo injury is the worst thing to happen to this organization if it gives jerry the excuse to keep his puppet.

I want Garrett to go because I hope the real established coached tell Jerry that he can't expect to win with a team who does have a coach with power and control of the staff.

I will say that I don't know if Garrett could be a great coach. Maybe we will find out on another team. He was set up to fail from day one. He was hired to be the head assistant coach or some bullcrap. He has never been able to even hire his assistants. What kind of crap is that? He is the figurehead but when you are powerless to even hire your own coordinators then how can you respect the coaches Jerry hired to respect Garrett?
It's not Garrett that needs to go. It's Jerry's system of hiring lame duck figure heads and pitting everyone against everyone internally so the players and staff have no decisive direction.

Our coach is Jerry Jones.
Garrett is just the next assistant coach to fall.

I am also conflicted.

I want to see the boys make the playoffs. But I know that gives jerry momentum to continue business as usual.....which I DONT want....

I'm at a point......I would like to see romo, witten, ware ,,,,,try to get on with a team that needs them and could possibly make a run for the Super Bowl. Those guys deserve it.

And the Dallas Cowboys go back to the drawing board. Change errrrything.... Do a "real" rebuilding phase.....which means 3 4 game wins in a season for a few years.....but...I think that's our only chance....

It would be fun to watch too........

It was awesome....watching Emmitt smith and Troy aikman go from "just rookies" to ruling over the league .....and winning Super Bowls..... Awesome.

But it was much much more then those two guys, The rest of the team were no names too. Yeah, some high draft picks.....but just unproven in the NFL. The cowboys had sucked for years....and all of a sudden, They were the toughest team , maybe in NFL History.....

Everyone is miserable with, no shot what so ever, at a Super Bowl. With....mediocrity ....

1-15
7-9
11-5

Some real tough times.

I swear realists are even more delusional than homers.

Yeah, dude. That's what I said.....a few years of 3, 4 wins In a season. A losing season. You going to hold me to the exact number of wins???? Damn.

No one "knew". It was going to work......we could've been 1-15 the next year too......but those who were paying attention. Saw it that year. And were excited to go into the next season.......

totally agree.
I would sign up right now for back to back years of 2-14 and 4-12 as long as a football guy was running the show. That would be great. Much, much better than 7-9 or 8-8 and no hope....which is what Coach Jones and Asst Coach Garrett have brought to the table: A mediocre team with no real hope of turning the corner.
