I know there's no love lost between our teams, but after another brutal playoff loss suffered to the Giants and the offseason that followed with their fanbase, I was delighted to see you guys bring them down to earth the other night!!

It got me thinking that for the most part I don't really hate the Giants team that much (at least the recent team....hated the '80s teams), but their fans are the worst. So entitled, Eli is the greatest QB ever (only a few years after he was probably "the worst QB" ever in their eyes), JPP is already Lawrence Taylor, Nicks & Cruz are already Rice/Taylor, Irvin/Harper, and nobody ever beats their team.....there's always excuses for their losses. Always.

They are a good team, but historically our rivalry with them in the playoffs has always came down to them knocking out Joe Montana and/or having some kind of incredible luck. It's pretty seething. Even more when you consider they relish in the QB knockout.

Cowboys in the '90s were fundamentally better than the 49ers. It was frustrating to deal with but was the reality. Better control of the line of scrimmage from both sides and Alvin Harper, lol. We bought the super bowl in '94 and that was nice as Steve Young deserved to win one.

So I don't really hate the Cowboys, just a rivalry when we play each other. Same with Green Bay even though they have won the last thousand games against us.

Anyways, good luck this season. It will be interesting if we meet again in the postseason....

You got that part right!

But I always had respect for the 49ers, something I could never say about out division rivals.

Good write up, and your observation of ginas fans is spot-on. They are the worst. I loathe them. I went to Candlestick for the first time last year, and all the niner fans around us were really cool. Giants fans I want to fight. Just kidding..sort of.

There's been alot of other fans coming in a saying congrats.........I didn't know all these other division fans hated the Giants but I'm glad to see it....

Btw u should hate philly too.......there a awful team and awful fanbase

That is a fair statement. Definitely they have a nice D-line , a QB who has came through big moments and good receivers , but in their recent runs to SB , they had definitely a few big elements of luck.

Like the muffed punts in your game and in the SB the incredible catches
(Tyree, Manningham ) even in the 2009 playoff against us, Sure handed Crayton dropping a pass which hit both hands and giving up on route in EZ, we can go on!

But , All these excuses aside we need to get over the hump and win that sixth trophy to get even , lets see who gets there first ! As you mentioned we dont like each other , but there is definitely mutual respect , I think .

Good stuff man. Good luck against the chesseheads. Dallas vs San Fran in the post season would be epic. Here's a little reminder.

Thanks for your kind words.

I was never a 49ers fan but I always respected your legacy: Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott - great teams, great players, great coaches, great games.

You've got a great team again and we just barely pulled out a miracle win against you guys last year.

I'd love to meet you guys in the playoffs but in Dallas this time. It'll be just like old times.

There's something about the niners and having extremely admirable coaches. I've always had a heavy dose of respect for them because of that.

Nice. Never thought a Niner fan would ever admit to this. Good stuff. :D

I have a severe mancrush on Patrick Willis.

I had one until I seen this guy out of Penn State named Sean Lee. :laugh2: He may not be there yet but if he keeps this up he'll deserve to be at the very least compared to the guy.

Gotta say it would be nice to see a 90s throw back game in the NFC championship this year.

Seems like a lot of people are happy that the Giants lost. Even a lot of Eagles fans are happy that the Cowboys beat the Giants.

Do you boys think a 49er fan -- with 2 posts to his name -- is really posting this stuff?!? How naive are you? Trolled by one of our own---sadly--- and I've got an idea who did it. But geesh, boys...THINK!

Back in the day this boy called himself "Floaty" and this was exactly the kind of stuff he would do.

That's good to hear. And thanks for agreeing on the Giants. Sometimes you need that outside perspective.

Unfortunately I hear with their recent success it has become more unfriendly to visiting fans.

BTW, there was a guy dressed in a Romo jersey during 49er training camp at Candlestick Park....was that anyone here? LOL.

No real beef with Philly....YET. Historically we've never played them in the playoffs, so that's probably why.

We did wreck their season last year with our 2nd half comeback. My Eagles fan wasn't too happy with me about it!

Race to 6th would be good. We both got 5 around the same time...

Thanks. I know who you are referring to....and we paid a price for 8 years with guys like Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, and Mike Singletary....brutal. Almost like an NFL coaching karma.

Let's see what Garrett can do this year.

No, it's not an inside job.

It's real.

5-10% of every fanbase has a true respect and knowledge of the game and strengths/shortcomings of their team and others, while still being a big, slightly homerish fan at the same time.

As long as there are no attacks, I don't look to incite. If you want to verify that I am indeed a 49ers fan, I think no one on here would care to recall Elvis Grbac 1995 at Texas Stadium. ;)

BTW, while we are reminiscing, I remember two things about '92 NFCC:

1) Hoping Joe Montana would play in the 2nd half - his final game in red & gold. Not sure if he could have pulled it off, but would have loved to see him try.
2) The Charles Haley trade was a huge blow to our team. And the reason he was a locker room mess was over the Montana/Young debacle.

And while front office decisions were good during those years by both teams, I don't understand why they thought it was a good idea to pass around Haley, Ken Norton Jr, Deion Sanders to each other.
