(AP) - Tim Tebow won the Maxwell Award for the second year Thursday, edging Texas' Colt McCoy and Texas Tech's Graham Harrell for the honor given to college football's best all-round player.

The Florida star joined Notre Dame quaterback Johnny Lattner as the only two-time winners of the Maxwell Award. Lattner won in 1952-53.
Tebow, who will lead Florida against Sam Bradford's Oklahoma in the national championship game next month, won the Heisman Trophy last year and, on Saturday in New York, could become the second player to win it twice.

"All these awards are special — and they mean a lot to me — but they don't compare to winning the championship because you share that with everyone on the team," Tebow said. "That's the one I really want."

McCoy was the Walter Camp Player of the Year, leading the All-American team, and Tebow was given Disney's Spirit Award for service off the field.

The versatile Tebow threw 28 touchdown passes and only two interceptions. He hasn't been asked to run as much this season, but still has 564 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns.

"I've been blessed the last few years to win some trophies and to win some championships," Tebow said, "but this means more."

Heisman Trophy finalists Bradford, McCoy and Tebow were all winners Thursday.

Bradford won the Davey O'Brien Award, beating out Texas' McCoy and Texas Tech's Graham Harrell as top quarterback.

Bradford directed the highest-scoring team in major college football history. He led the nation in passer rating (186.3) and TD passes (48) while throwing for 4,464 yards.

Bradford became the second Sooners quarterback to win the award, joining Jason White, who won it in 2004 after winning the Heisman in 2003.
Tebow won the award last year ahead of winning the Heisman.

"It will be an honor just to be there with those guys," Bradford said. "This is great to win. I was a little surprised. It's too early to tell what else will happen."

The last time all the Heisman finalists were quarterbacks was 2001, when Nebraska's Eric Crouch won the award and QBs held the first six spots.

Michael Crabtree, a Texas Tech sophomore, won his second straight Biletnikoff Award for best wide receiver. Crabtree caught 18 touchdown passes this year, and has 93 receptions for 1,135 yards. He made headlines for his last-second, game-winning touchdown catch against Texas.

I'm going to be royally perturbed if Tebow wins the Heisman.

I think Sam is going to win the Heisman, and deservedly so.

If I had a ballot, it would go:

1) Bradford
2) McCoy
3) Tebow

That said, it's hard not to like Tebow. He's a hard-nosed player and seems to be a very high-quality person off the field.

This site: http://www.stiffarmtrophy.com/ has correctly predicted the winner every year they have done this, for the past six years.

Right now, Bradford is relatively comfortably in the lead, with McCoy second and Tebow right behind him.

You never know, but they do have an outstanding track record when it comes to forecasting this thing.

You also see, looking at this site, why Harrell was "snubbed" by the invite committee. He is trailing the top three by miles and miles when it comes to votes. He's not even close. It really is just a three horse race.

I agree. I say give it to Colt.

;)

Any of the three are deserving.

But I like Griffin being the only two time winner...so Colt's OK with me.

:D

He was a 2 time mistake. Tony Dorsett should be a 3 time winner. He was better than Griffin both years Griffin won it.

I probably agree with this. I would also say that Roger Staubach should be a two time winner as well. No way, IMO, John Haurte should have won the award over Roger in 64. Of course, I am a Cowboy fan and a huge Staubach homer so you know, there is that.......

I have a feeling Tebow will get the Heisman in large part because the 2 QB's from the big 12 will end up splitting votes in this region. Having said that I think a valid case can be made for each guy to bring home the Heisman

Hey I love Dorsett.

In fact one of my favorite memories is the first time I met my future brother. My dad and I when to Clarksburg WV so my dad could see my future mom.

As they went out to a club that night me and my brother watched Dorsett and Pitt tear Penn St a new one.

He ran for 224 that night

Friday after Thanksgiving 1976.

It'll be interesting, though, because the Northeast and the West Coast (and the mid-West) have no candidates this year. All those votes are up for grabs, and I don't think you'll see Bradford/McCoy dichotomy in those areas.

If you analyze the Stiff Arm breakdown, you see Bradford doing well in many of those regions... a lot of firsts and seconds.

I think Sam wins it.

He may as I said I think each guy has a legit claim. I just think 2 guys in 1 conference vs 1 guy from 1 conference could tilt it in Tebows favor. Heck I hope Colt wins it myself but it will be hard to argue against the other 2
